What could be more Christmassy than a little robin?!

2024 has been a difficult year for us with family illness and bereavement, so we haven't been able to run as many safaris as we'd have liked. However, we've also had the amazing good fortune to be able to buy 92 acres of land at Bac Dubh, next to the village of Poolewe, for nature restoration, and we hope that project will really start to take off in 2025. We'll be making some changes to Wild Ewe Safaris to integrate with the Bac Dubh project - watch this space for details!

In the meantime, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025.

It's that time of year ... whooper swans are passing through on their migration. This little group of two adults and a juvenile had stopped for a rest at the loch in Laide Wood.

We're now on our autumn/winter schedule, which means we don't timetable safaris but we arrange them at a date and time to suit you. You can choose from one of our standard safaris listed on the home page of our website www.wildewe.com, or set up a bespoke safari to suit you.

Our weather in Wester Ross can be quite changeable this time of year so we can be flexible to suit the conditions. Over the autumn and winter we don't charge for our safaris until after the event, and we can modify, cancel or reschedule safaris as required depending on conditions.

There is still plenty of wildlife to see over autumn and winter; red deer, overwintering birds and of course our resident species such as otters, red squirrels and white-tailed sea eagles are here all year round.

Contact us to book your autumn/winter safari!

I’ve just been offered a fantastic last minute opportunity to go and work on Handa Island for a few days, so I won’t be able to offer any safaris this week. Apologies to anyone who was wanting to book!

Handa Island is a stunning wildlife reserve at the north of Scotland. With dramatic cliff views and 100,000 seabirds to watch, find out how to visit online.

It’s officially the start of Autumn today, although the weather decided it was Autumn in August and it’s now Summer! And people still don’t believe in climate change…

Anyway, regardless of the weather, we have now moved onto our Autumn/Winter calendar. This just means that we offer all our usual safaris but we don’t set up specific dates and times, we just arrange our safaris at a date and time to suit you.

There is lots of wildlife to see this time of year, so to book your safari head over to our website www.wildewe.com or email us on [email protected]

If you care about wild places please take a couple of minutes to object to the siting of a 22m telecoms mast at RSPB Abernethy! It doesn't take long and you could help save this amazing place from inappropriate development. Thank you!

❗️❗️ An application for a proposed telecoms mast and associated infrastructure at Ryvoan on RSPB Abernethy has been lodged with the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA).
We feel strongly that this is not an appropriate location for such a development and have objected on various grounds - click the link to find out what these objections are.
If you feel that Ryvoan should not be developed in this way, please add your voice and help halt this proposal by objecting on the CNPA planning portal. Thank you.
