Reflecting on our end of season 2024...

We can not believe we have reached the end of our 2024 season here at Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum. It really has been such a busy year for us, that we simply lost track of time, and despite the notorious British weather being completely unpredictable, we still welcomed over 38,000 of you who came to visit us!

We really have had a wonderful year here at Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, we are so grateful to have shared this time with you all, we’ve really enjoyed your company.

We hope to share more memories with you all again in the New Year.

The Pit Yard Play Area is always popular with families.

Inspired by the coal mining heritage of the museum, the play area features a range of accessible equipment, integrated with the original play equipment to encourage children of all abilities to interact and learn through movement, sound, vision and memory.

The Pit Yard Play Area is accessible via a wheelchair / pushchair friendly path – with a small slide linking the path with the lower level site. We have also installed new seating to allow parents to relax while being close by.

It is a huge sea today 🌊💙

So beautiful this morning 💙 Appreciating it as rain forecast this afternoon, a dry and sunny weekend though 😎

So Meg and I are checking the cattle and sheep in the fields tonight. At this time of year we are doing it twice a day incase any sheep are on their backs (not good) or have fly strike (horrible). This is the Plantain Field. Everything is fine, the cattle are content and I don't mind being the 'stand-in' when the day is this good 😀

James had to climb to the top of the grain tower today....wobbly legs, but great view 😀
