Are you family friendly? Yes kids love our pizza, Spurreli ice-cream and large outdoor area.

Are you dog friendly? Yes 🐕 are welcome at the Backyard Beach Club

Do you have a covered area? Yes all of our outside bar is covered and we have our inside seating to.

What time is last orders? Our licence means we can serve till 10pm outside but when weather is poor we may close earlier.

“The 8 market crosses and the lozenge”.

Originally, Alnwick’s market cross was a small, round, multi -arched building with a cross on the roof. It stood near to where St Michael’s Pant now stands.
There were, in much earlier times up to 8 such ‘ crosses’ dotted around the town and countryside.
As for the Lozenge, well, the cross in my photo didn’t look like that when erected. The pillar was higher and it had a lozenge shaped stone on top. Four of the sides of the stone had the directions N, S, E and W engraved onto it.
It is believed that the cross we see today replaced the original stone during the town’s renovations by Salvin.
