So just like that we are pretty much now into spring on next availability with the exception of a couple of slots scattered across Feb/Mar.
April & May are always pretty special on the farm as it feels like all the hard work prior pays off when lambing hits.
This lambing there maybe a couple of surprises as tup time wasn't as easy in Nov due to the other half breaking his leg π¬ we did however have some incredible help which we were thankful of.
If you fancy seeing what lambing time can be like on a fell farm or just want to feed a lamb ( no guarantee as the aim is to get them on a mum ) or just want to get involved them why not get a mini staycation booked.
We offer Mon to Fri or Fri to Mon at Β£450 per slot in April/May and you can stay 2 , 3 or 4 nights whatever works for you.
Below is all the waffle just incase you are new to the page π

It's been a little wet this morning & we knew it was forecast so all our sheep were moved out onto higher ground. Thankfully we got the grass cut two weeks ago when we had a glimpse of summer π
Always interesting when you're on the evening shift π¦
Saw this little chap in the water. He was out swimming.
I scared him π«£
Edit π€ thought it was an otter realised its a mink, oh heck π not great I know π€¦
Most people who have stayed here know we sell eggs when the birds are laying π
We don't make much money on them to be honest as feed , egg boxes etc all cost money . We do it because it's nice for people to buy free range eggs off a farm & it makes us feel nice knowing people enjoy them π₯°
Now the lady below didn't buy any eggs and didn't leave any money but it looks like she did take something that wasn't hers. We can't be 100% certain but the money pot was empty when we checked just after this π€ we hope if she did take the coins from the pot she actually really needed an extra few quid π
Anyhow it has got us thinking honesty boxes do you think they still have a place & in general most people are good folk or should we wise up and have a locked boxπ¬
Thoughts gang π€
What a lovely day here in the valley & it's so nice to see abit of sunshine for once βοΈ
Anyone remember Patch who we rescued and had living by the fire? π Well he's doing fine and seems to be the new exhibit for our yougest to practice his auctioneer skills on.
Β£8000 quid & sold . Think he needs a job as he will make you a fortune in commission π
I wish & if only π€ππ€£
It was a rough night last night in the valley as so much rain came down π§
Thankfully we moved the sheep due to lamb out of the main fields as we knew it was coming.
Upon checking the sheep at first light we found this little one who was part of a set of triplets. π
When we brought him in he was hardly breathing & lifeless. After a lovely warm bath he has perked up a treat and is now living by the fire in the house π₯°
Never normally want to use this platform as a way to vent frustration but honestly Sunday was a ###x show here in the valley.
Loads of running clubs decended on Langdale Common on the Sunday and on Saturday there was a bike race.
On the Sunday there were over 250 cars parked (well I say parked to be polite) on Langdale Common. Cars blocking junctions, dogs off leads , cars abandoned, kids chasing after heavily pregnant ewes across the common, people climbing fences / walls and urinating in our fields , rubbish left & generally utter chaos with no concern for any highway safety.
It's so frustrating when not only do the local population have to deal with this most weekends across the year but also that there is no engagement from these organisations with the people who live and farm here.
We also had loads of heavily pregnant ewes amongst all that was going on & no one bothered to take that into consideration. Also as far as we can tell there is also no contribution back into the community from these organisations. (I hope to stand corrected on this btw ) The Fell Runners Association feel free to let us know.
The Lake District is for all & is respectfully enjoyed by most . This weekend however was a pretty naff example of taking from it & not giving back .
On Wednesday @friendsofthelakedistrict will be protesting against potential planning for a new attraction in langdale quarry.
If all the below worked together and came up with a sensible parking strategy for this area using the quarry then maybe a there could be a win win and events like this could be managed in a safer way.
Sort it out guys as its an accident waiting to happen.

No roses in this house but I was given a nice fresh chicken from the local village shop π ππ it's the thought that counts right π
Anyhow he did his best to make you all a sheep heart on this valentines day but instead you got a circle π«Άπ
Well sort of !! π₯°
You know what they say "never work with animals & farmers " but loving the fact that he tried to give it ago π
Happy valentines gang ππ₯°
The langdale tide has come back in with snow melt and the couple of storms we've had . Went down to close a gate that had blown open in the windπ¨π and get a few sheep out ππ that had wondered through to eat the fresh shoots of grass that has sprung with it been wet and mild
