From Rowan's front door, it's a 2-3 minute walk along a pebbled path leading down Peggy Hill to the centre of Ambleside.
Rowan has recently been refurbished to a high standard and is a perfect luxury getaway!

Midweek Breaks include some Thursday nights free of charge.
Also, if you stay Friday and Saturday night only you don't need to check out of your apartment until 2pm on the Sunday.

Wray Castle is only a very short drive from Ambleside. It's definately worth a visit- a small car park charge also gives you entry into the castle.

Lots to do in Ambleside and if you're not feeling too energetic a visit to White Platts for a round of crazy golf is always good fun.

If you want an amazing view with just a short walk then head out of Ambleside up to Jenkins Crag. A beautiful view along Lake Windermere just as the sun was setting.

First time visit to local restaurant Lucy’s on a Plate and we can’t praise this little gem highly enough. The food was delicious - all tasted fresh and home cooked. And the range of drinks on offer was great. It won’t be long before we visit again. Thanks to all the staff who were just lovely.

Just a short walk through Ambleside Park and along the path to the Stepping Stones. Even in Winter Ambleside is such a beautiful place to visit.

We always have a treat at the Apple Pie Bakery when visiting Rowan at Ambleside. Usually a small queue but always worth the wait. So delicious!

Not used to deer being so friendly when we were walking in the beautiful Langdale Valley. She hardly flinched when we walked past. Such a beautiful part of the Lake District- can't wait to come back.

Lakeside Aquarium is always a great place to visit. There's also the ferry from here to Bowness and then up to Ambleside. We love to see the steam train passing through as well- always so much to see and do here.

We've always walked past Blackwell Arts & Crafts House but today we finally decided to actually have a look around. We thought it was a little pricey at £9 but the entrance price does allow you to revisit for the following 12 months. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Blackwell and whilst walking around she pointed out lots of interesting facts. There was a small gift shop and a lovely cafe on site. I'm sure we'll be back.

After a quick walk up Orrest Head, we called back at Lakeland. Not surprised we had to queue for lunch - the soup and sandwich was just what we needed- delicious. Also, good to have a wander around Lakeland after lunch - I can usually find something that I 'need'!

Always enjoy the drive from Ambleside to Keswick, stopping for lunch and a walk near Thirlmere and timed it just right to watch the paragliders- amazing!
Some Native Americans 'just happened' to be in the centre of Keswick so we had a great day.

First night of our holiday - a visit to The Tapyard- only a few minutes walk from Rowan's apartment. Great to both be able to enjoy a drink without having to arrange how we're going to get home. One beef and one chicken burger- both delicious!

Love spending time at Rowan, Ambleside- a perfect place for a little bit of luxury in the heart of the Lakes. A well deserved glass of bubbles after a walk around Loughrigg Fell.

Must have chosen the dampest day to walk up Orrest Head. Usually the views are wonderful but not much to see today.... although we did manage to find the Gruffalo on our way down!

A lovely little walk on the opposite side of the ghyll to Rowan's apartment. This is a must walk, especially if it's your first visit to Ambleside. Enjoy!

Waterhead is just a very short walk from Rowan- 3 miles round trip. With lovely views across Lake Windermere you can also stop off at Borrans Park to see the Roman ruins.

Visited The Priest Hole in central Ambleside for a lovely evening meal. With it only being a few minutes walk from the apartment Rowan, we could both enjoy one or two drinks without worrying about having to drive. I had a gorgeous curry- Pollichathu- tandoori chicken infused with coconut, cumin and mild red chilli. There were also vegan/vegetarian curry options. My husband had The Priest 6oz beef burger- he said it was delicious. A great restaurant.
