Now in our 18th season at this personally run elegant Georgian house in Near Sawrey, a small village in the English Lake District, once a holiday home of Beatrix Potter. Set on high ground overlooking Esthwaite Water we offer luxury accommodation together with awards for breakfast and an AA rosette for dinner, and entries in the Good Hotel Guide. oms have stunning views across the Water to Coniston Old man round to the Langdale Pikes and extensive woodland of Grizedale Forest. There are many walks for the house, from the easy and relaxing to the slightly more challenging. The house is just a short walk to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter made her home and wrote many of her Peter Rabbit books.

Exciting News! ✨ The first farm bought by Beatrix Potter is opening its gates to the public for the very first time.
You can experience the magic of the Lake District just as Beatrix did. Explore the operational farm, meet the Herdwick sheep, and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Near Sawrey. 🐑🏞️
Tours are available throughout July and August, offering a glimpse into the world that inspired so many of Potter's stories.

Thank you The Beatrix Potter Society for sharing this lovely piece of history! We are honoured to be part of Beatrix Potter's story.
Beatrix and her family stayed at Ees Wyke, then known as Lakefield, on several occasions when they rented it as a holiday home. Later, Beatrix purchased nearby Hill Top Farm, the setting for six of her books, including "The Tales of Peter Rabbit." We know from her letters to her publisher that she stayed here while editing "The Tales of Peter Rabbit." 🌸✨
In 1896 Beatrix Potter and her family stayed for the first time in Sawrey, when they rented Lakefield, now known as Ees Wyke Country House .
