😮👀 Look at the difference 👀😮

Still a few finishing touches and painting to do but we’re too excited not to share these pictures!

Thanks to magic Mark the carpenter the 10 grade 2 listed sash windows in the Chapel are slowly being restored to their former glory!

In a few weeks they should all be finished and we can move on to the next phase of rescuing Capel Seilo

🥱😴 BORING POST ALERT 😴🥱

🧱👷‍♂️ It doesn’t look like much but today L.J. Groundworks & Maintenance got us one step closer to completion by pouring the first part of the new foundations inside Capel Seilo 👷‍♂️🧱

⛪️ Hopefully over the summer the listed sash windows will be restored and we’ll be well on our way restoring many of the Chapels other listed features ⛪️

We’ve been making the most of the sunny weather and admiring the sea views from upstairs in Capel Seilo this weekend. You can even see Point Lynas Lighthouse which was a nice surprise 😮😍

Lots of preparation work going on ahead of the window restoration work which will hopefully be starting soon

Well that was a fun way to spend the day! Carefully dismantling, labelling and then removing the listed pulpit and set fawr (big seat!) from Capel Seilo.

With it all now safely stored away we can get on with restorations and reinstate it in all its glory later on towards the end of the build!

Our fantastic find of the day was a sign on the wall of the original pulpit, hidden behind the more modern wooden cladding which we initially thought said “Watch attitude” 😂😬 but after consulting our trusty Welsh language expert it turns out it says “Watch and pray”, which makes much more sense!!!

Currently sat on our bench in the front garden of Ysgoldy Seilo looking at THAT view, thinking about how far we’ve come on our journey so far but still conscious of how far we still have to go! The Isle of Man visible today in the 2nd photo!

New window protection boards installed today ready for work starting in earnest on the Chapel in a few weeks.

Rather than boring blank boards we’ve had these designed and made by good friend Kev at Iced. A bit of information and history on the building for any curious passers by.

Forget all the lovely pictures of the finished Sunday School, we’re back in the thick of it now as we start the conversion of the adjoining Chapel aka Capel Seilo.

We spent today making final assessments and plans for the remedial structural work needed to prevent any further decay of the building and make sure it’s safe to start converting it.

The highlight had to be the fancy drone brought in to assess the timbers above the windows and in the roof structure! It would certainly have raised a few eyebrows if the congregation from 1835 could’ve seen it!

Getting there now 😬

Ysgoldy Seilo was treated to a second coat of paint on the railings and a change of colour for the downspouts and gutters to match this week.

Very productive weekend in Pengorffwysfa last weekend! As well as clearing the Chapel we managed to find time to put the finishing touches to the boot room in Ysgoldy Seilo ⛪️

We also enjoyed a great evening in Wales’ real ale pub of the year The Adelphi Vaults, where the beer mats we’re advertising our favourite patisserie Melin Llynon.

We also enjoyed great food each night first on Friday at Rozi Amlwch then on Saturday at Y Dec in .

And so we start all over again! First day of clearing the Chapel (aka Capel Seilo) today ahead of renovations starting 😬

We found some 107 year old graffiti hidden on the pews! Look at the handwriting! Very smart, even if it was just for graffiti 😂

The Chapel has been a handy ‘store room’ while we’ve been converting Ysgoldy Seilo but now we need to empty it out and find a home for everything so we can start groundworks and remedial structural work on Capel Seilo!

Very enjoyable evening tonight sampling the beers we picked up from Adam at Anglesey Brewhouse for our welcome baskets at Ysgoldy Seilo

If you haven’t visited already we’d highly recommend it. Adam was great showing us round and explaining about the brewing process and all the beers. They’ve got a lovely set up in Llangefni.

The beers are delicious too! We’re struggling to decide on our favourite 🤔

There are some big jobs breaking out this week at Capel Seilo with the help of Poxon construction & building limited! Lots of remedial structural work to replace rotten wooden lintels (pictures to follow). Plus we now have a doorway from what will be the kitchen straight out into our gorgeous garden with those stunning sea views!
