Bit of a grey day. Heading up to Mackay’s boat yard in Arbroath for a lift out, bottom clean and antifoul. Stewart Braisher keeping me company on the trip up, but don’t think he is too impressed with the bus ride so far.
If you are in Anstruther’s then the fisheries museum is well worth a visit
While women working in the herring industry were generally employed, fishwives worked for themselves, selling the fish caught by their family members or bought directly from the fishermen. They would work all year round, their wares varying with the seasons from shellfish to white fish to oily fish,...
Looks like the weather isnt going to play ball this weekend for diving. Time to watch Scotland vs Italy in the six nations it is then!
Bit of a grey start this morning but just kept getting better and better

Happy new year to all our customers. Hope everyone has a great 2024 and look forward to a great year of diving ahead.
Unfortunately due to storm Babet hitting east coast this weekend - all planned trips have been cancelled for 21/22nd October. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Super excited to announce we have made a huge investment and can now offer air fills to 300bar!
In conjunction with L&W uk we have designed and manufactured a trailer mounted breathing air compressor system that will be shore based in Anstruther. This opens up the opportunity to carry out multiple day diving as we now have the capability to fill cylinders on our return to Anstruther (or anywhere else!), ready for the next days diving.
With 6x80ltr 300bar air bank and a diesel driven 450ltr/min L&W compressor, we can quickly fill multiple diving cylinders, safely and accurately to breathing air standard.
Look forward to putting this to work!
Another cracking day on the Forth on Mako. Thanks to Rob Smith for the photos of the day out and everyone who joined the trip! Time for a beer!

Extract from recent Explorers club magazine on our expedition last year to survey K-Boat submarines. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get back there this year to fill in the gaps of our photogrammetry survey due to NNG windfarm construction activity, not through the lack of trying and communication with NNG and EDF, but lack of willingness on their part to accommodate us being inside the construction area for short, specific time periods. This does not bode well going forward and large organisations need to be held to account on the impact they have on our environment, seas, protected sites and smaller businesses!
Beautiful day at Isle of May today. What a change from yesterday!
Spaces still available for this dive on avondale park, the last merchant ship to be sunk at the end of the Second World War. Sunk by U2336. The sinking, at just after 23:00 on 7 May 1945, was in the last hours of the Second World War in Europe, with the official surrender taking place at 23:01 on 8 May 1945 A signal had been sent to the U-boats on 4 May 1945 ordering them to surrender but U-2336 did not receive the signal. One for the log book for sure!
Get it in touch to book a slot for 13th August.
