Spot one of the small herd of wild Spanish goats who roam the northern end of Colonsay. We encountered this guy overlooking Kiloran Bay on our first day back on the island this afternoon. The first time we have seen any of them for a few years.

Highfield has never had a 3 week rental in February before, however our German guests have struck lucky on their first visit to Colonsay and are enjoying an unusually mild spell for this time of year in the Hebrides.

Another sunny day, Lower Kilchattan in Isle of Colonsay. The daffodils are in bud and it is with mixed feelings that we see the starlings preparing to reoccupy the roof space of our porch.

Summer ferry timetable out shortly, hopefully common sense will prevail at Calmac HQ!!!

A misty day in Colonsay, but some good news. If rumour can be believed, CalMac summer timetable is to be published at noon on Tuesday. That should lead to a great flurry of bookings, so it might be worthwhile to get ahead of the game if you are planning a visit this summer.

The Isle of Colonsay is situated in the Inner Hebrides, between Islay and Mull. Although small, it has a very varied landscape. A herd of wild goats roam the island and 50 colonies of the only native species of honeybee in Britain reside there. Evidence suggests there was life on the island at least 9,000 years ago, if not longer.
