Get ready for an unforgettable line-up of family-friendly events to kick off 2025, at the Rare Breeds Centre Woodchurch! From thrilling superhero adventures to magical princess encounters and special visits from some beloved characters. There's something for kids of all ages to enjoy!

⭐ 25th January "Superhero Day". Visitors will have the chance to meet the amazing Spidey and listen to him during two interactive storytelling sessions in the Discovery Zone at 11am and 1pm. The fun doesn’t stop there, little ones can test their hero skills on an adventurous farm trail, solving clues and embracing their inner superhero. Head to the Main Paddock at 2pm, where Spidey will be on the lookout for the most creative and heroic costumes. So, make sure to bring your little superheroes dressed.

⭐ 15th February "Princess Day". Visitors can explore the farm trail and solve fun clues as they venture around. A real-life princess will host two enchanting storytelling sessions in the Discovery Zone at 11am and 2pm. The day will also include a costume competition in the Main Paddock at 2pm, where little royals can dazzle the judges. For those who wish to step fully into their royal roles, a face painting station will be available for a small fee.

⭐ 22-23rd March "Ben & Holly". Welcoming Ben and Holly from Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom to the Rare Breeds Centre. They will be making five scheduled appearances at intervals each day, so lots of time to meet the duo and capture some magical moments.

There’s nothing quite like a ride on Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway - so it’s little wonder that it's one of Kent's top tourist attractions!

A journey on one of the small trains of this heritage railway is a unique experience combining years of steam railway heritage with some of Kent's most picturesque countryside.

The RH&DR has been drawing crowds since it opened in 1927 and now operates the most complete collection of one-third full-sized steam locomotives in the world. These small but perfectly-formed trains, take just over an hour to complete the full journey from Hythe to Dungeness but there are opportunities to get off and explore along the way too.

On 8 January 1996, the UK's second Eurostar station opened - Ashford International Station. It heralded a new era in international rail travel for Ashford and East Kent passengers.

Its opening came after an 18-month, £80million construction project, which had started in June 1994, to transform the town's station into 'Ashford International'. Two new platforms were built for domestic trains to replace those used by Eurostar.

29 years on the group behind the ‘Bring Back Eurostar Campaign’ want to see them return, in time for its 30th anniversary.

The group, which comprises key voices from the public and private sector, including Ashford Borough Council, Kent County Council, Kent and Medway Economic Partnership, Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Locate in Kent and Visit Kent, have been campaigning since they stopped in 2020, which Eurostar originally blamed on a combination of financial concerns and post-Brexit red tape.

Exciting plans for a new look to Ashford Town Centre’s cinema have been revealed this week, with the former Picturehouse at Elwick Place welcoming residents and cinema fans next week under a new name - The Ashford Cinema.
