It’s great to back in Devon again . Here we are blessed with spectacular walks just a short drive away. November can be hit and miss, but today we’ve been very fortunate with the weather. We parked at East Soar car park and did a 6 mile circular walk. The views along this stretch of the are superb on a clear day. We also spotted a sandy cove where the sea is clear and where we intend swimming next summer. We stopped off and had a delicious roast lunch and then headed uphill for the last mile back to the car. The route and lunch spot was recommended by people we sat with last night at the always excellent feasting supper!

Bantham is the nearest beach to and is a great surf beach. If you are down here why not book some lessons with you can hire boards and wetsuits from them. If you have your own then store and wash them down with a hose outside on the patio

I am obsessed with Chinoiserie. Just love it. I was surprised to see beautiful wallpaper and an abundance of reverse glass paintings when we visited Saltram House a stately home near Plymouth. After all, what else can you do when you are down in Devon it’s a bank holiday and it’s pouring with rain? Two of the upstairs bedroom were spectacular featuring hand painted Chinese wallpaper. Surprisingly, very little of this fine work features on the property’s Instagram page.

Whenever we’re in Devon we make a beeline to .house.art.wellbeing for lunch. The cafe now has new owners but the food is as good as it’s ever been. Yesterday, we had a delicious aubergine and miso wrap and super green salad with fresh peas, coconut and leaves. Delicious! And when it’s not raining there’s a large sunny outdoor space.

If heading straight out from the house is your preference then is the place for you. This photo was taken early in March on the tidal road by . Blue skies in between the rain - we were fortunate! We love the sheer variety walks on offer that can lead us up to the village of along the headland with glimpses of and beyond. Then down to or further afield to the beach over at . This is off the main tourist track so when walking we rarely see a soul. Solitude indeed!

If you like then you will love the perfect place to eat and get cosy before catching the train. We had a lovely Sunday...

If you like then you will love the perfect place to eat and get cosy before catching the train. We had a lovely Sunday lunch that included delicious rocket pesto, betroot, beef carpaccio, braised lamb with whipped tahini and a lovely gingerbread parfait. I was assured that the latter went will with a calvados, but didn’t taste it as I was the one driving!

Dodged the Devon rain and paid a visit to . As you do when you’re with the parents during a bank holiday! It’s a house near Dartmouth in a glorious spot. Would love to return to sample the landscaped gardens in the summertime. It was built in the 1920s by a pupil of Edward Lutyens for the D’Oyly Carte family and is now owned by . I was taken by the sinks in the bedrooms and the remoulded eau-de-nil coloured glass tiles above the sinks. It turns out that they were also installed in London’s Savoy Hotel that the family also owned. Also loved the fabric skirts below the sinks. Also loved the dreamy tangerine-coloured doors in the servant’s quarters. Definitely worth a visit!

Easter will soon be upon us. We will be heading to to see their out-of-control geraniums, buy some for our pots and eat...
