This wee toot was found yesterday morning to start our 2023 calving season. Both mother and calf are happy and healthy and enjoying some well earned rest. 🥳

Note: We don't release the names of the mothers of our calves until after we've let our adopters know in the June newsletter and we don't name any of the calves until the autumn.

The still has great conditions

End of day Wednesday 12th April.
Today we had a return to winter, with blizzard conditions, heavy snow and drifting. Tomorrow is looking good for snowsports in the Ptarmigan bowl, with lighter winds from the East North East 20 to 25 mph on the summit. Heavy snow throughout the night, above 500 to 600m.
Tomorrow will be lighter snow showers with bright, sunny spells at times. Temperatures will drop to -4C at the top and 0C at the Base Station rising to +1C by Mid day.
It’s looking good for Tubing tomorrow, book your slot online to avoid disappointment.
Our Road sign at Rothiemurchus is not updating today, so please check our website for the latest updates from 8:30am tomorrow.

Anyone visiting and wants to spend some time with these beautiful The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd??
What and amazing opportunity if you can volunteer.

Calling all future volunteers! 📣 We are taking volunteers from May until the end of October 2023. If you are aged 18 years of age or over, you are welcome to apply. Placements last 5 to 7 days for one volunteer at a time and begin on a Monday each week. Accommodation books up quickly in the area, so if you’re interested in applying we recommend getting in touch with us sooner rather than later – please email us rather than message through social media ([email protected]). Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation.

Before applying, bear in mind that work at the Reindeer Centre can be very physical. It involves carrying heavy bags of feed to the reindeer in the mountains several times a day (20-30 minute walk over rough, wet mountain ground) in all weathers. While we will try to ensure you get as much time working with the reindeer as possible, the nature of the job means you will also be asked to carry out other duties in and around the Reindeer Centre such as general cleaning and maintenance. You will also spend a lot of time assisting the Reindeer Herders with their guided tours so being able and willing to chat to our lovely visitors is essential - don't worry your don't need prior knowledge of reindeer - it's amazing how much you'll pick up!
