How we got here
Number 36, High Street, was Axbridge’s former Red Lion Inn for at least 250 years and has been lovingly, painstakingly and sensitively converted from a near derelict state, a Herculean task that we started in 1997.
The house has been a great success since it became available to rent for holidays and weekend breaks, and has featured in magazines and on television, mainly for its quirky and eclectic style, encompassing antique via vintage to contemporary. Today, groups of up to 12 can enjoy truly stunning self-catering accommodation at Number 36, with the added bonus of the use of The Roxy - a small but perfectly formed cinema! It has open fires (even a pretty little Georgian one in the bathroom), a 4000 book library, a pool table and cocktail bar (it’s still genetically a pub!) and, uniquely, that 30+ seater vintage cinema. Select a film from the extensive library, or bring your own DVDs or Blu-Rays to watch. Use it as a base for walking around the Mendips, cycling around Somerset, celebrating family events, or just relax, enjoy, and make yourself at home. Having worked in the corporate world and spent many long days in front of PowerPoint presentations in dull surroundings, we have served our time in such events, and know from experience that we can offer something a bit different!
If you’d just like to come and have a look, please call to arrange a visit – you’d be most welcome!
