I'm back at my desk now after a wonderful week in Corsica.

Corsica...what a special place

I stayed in Calvi, a French home with apartments, beautiful gardens and 3 pools.

French speaking mainly so tested our French language skills!

Fabulous supermarkets locally with lots of cured meats, gorgeous fresh fruit and vegetables and French wine from just 5 Euros per bottle!

There is a fantastic selection of restaurants and bars to choose from in the town, overlooking the marina and on the beach. Magnolia and Oc*****sy were 2 of our favourites.

Calvi has a beautiful sandy beach, marina, town to explore and 13th century citadel. What more could you want from a holiday destination.

We decided to take a boat trip out of the Port of Calvi to the Scandola Nature Reserve. It is classified as a World Heritage Site. Crystal clear waters, majestic cliffs, and caves that our captain navigated skillfully.

The water was a beautiful blue and so clear you could see the fish below.

We stopped for a swim and snorkle on a remote beach along the way.

A day trip worth taking. The views from our little boat were amazing.

This beautiful part of Corsica needs to be explored. So a little train ride out from Calvi, along the coast to Lโ€™lle Rousse.

Some stunning beaches along the way as well as some pretty little villages.

Lโ€™lle Rousse is a glorious little town with a beautiful beach at the front and little narrow streets behind crammed with the most wonderful restaurants and an array of marvellous shops with anything from dresses to dried cured meats, cheese, wine, and souvenirs.

I have arrived on the beautiful Island of Corsica.

Calvi has everything, beautiful sandy beaches, a marina and a back drop of stunning mountains.

The magnificent citadel towers above its cobbled, narrow streets, hidden passage ways, boutique shops and traditional charcuterie. There are numerous restaurants and bars and beautiful views across the marina towards the mountains.

I'm looking forward to exploring the area over the next few days.
