Heading to Thailand?

Please be aware of the new entry procedure, announced this week.

Visitors to Thailand will have to fill out a digital arrival card prior to arriving in the country, starting next month.

From 01 May 2025, the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) will be mandatory for all non-Thai nationals entering the country.

It must be completed three days before arrival.

The system will open for submissions on 28 April for those arriving on 01 May.

Visitors will receive a confirmation after submitting the form, which will need to be presented at immigration either digitally or in print.

🔹️ Travel Update 🔹️

Passengers travelling through Gatwick airport no longer need to remove electrical items or place liquids in plastic bags.

An airport spokes person said passengers could now leave liquids and electronics, such as laptops, in their cabin bags while going through security.

They added this was part of the multi-million pound project to "transform" its security screening process by installing new computed tomography (CT) scanners.

🔹️IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR TRAVEL TO UK FROM EUROPE🔹️

The new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, to enter UK, will be mandatory for European nationals from, tomorrow, 02 April 2025. The system is currently in operation for non-European nationals.

Don’t panic! This is for non UK passport holders entering into the UK, and it works much like the current US ESTA.

It’s a visa waiver, that must be applied for before travel, approval should be granted within 72 hours of application and when approved, will cover you for a six month stay. The ETA will be valid for 2 years and covers multiple entries into the UK within that time and it costs is £10.00.

You do not need an ETA if you already have a visa to live, work or study in the UK, or if you are a UK or Irish citizen, or if you are travelling on a British overseas territories citizen passport. Exemptions also apply to those living in Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man, or dual citizens with British or Irish citizenship.

Friday wasn’t a normal day in the world of travel - below is a fabulous analogy of how different the booking process can be!

🧍‍♂️ Traveller 1
Traveller 1 booked his flights and hotel himself separately to ‘save’ money. Traveller 1 is now in New York and can’t fly home.

Traveller 1’s flights have been cancelled. His hotel is now full so he now has to spend all day trying to find another one for his family at a premium rate due to the late booking and lack of availability. This cost is on him.

Traveller 1 now has to try and navigate contacting the airline to rearrange, and pay for all the hotel costs himself as the flights are full for the next 3 days. Traveller 1's new airfare is astronomical due to the lack of availability. This is also on the client.

🧍‍♂️ Traveller 2
Traveller 2 has a flight he booked himself and a cruise he booked himself, all separately to ‘save’ money.

Traveller 2's flights have been cancelled from Heathrow but his cruise is still sailing from Miami tomorrow as this is not affected.
Traveller 2 has now lost his dream cruise for his family and has no financial support as he booked it all separately.

🧍‍♂️Traveller 3
Traveller 3 booked his whole trip through a trusted travel agent. His holiday is ATOL protected. Every element of his trip has been rebooked and his travel agent has sorted it all with one phone call.

‼️ Heathrow Airport Closure ‼️

Waking up this morning to the news that a fire has broken out at an electrical substation in the Hayes area of London affecting surrounding areas including Heathrow.

As a result, Heathrow Airport has been temporarily closed, with operations expected to resume no earlier than 23:59 local time on 21 March.

At Travel Counsellors we have a 24/7 Duty Office to support us Travel Counsellors and our clients. They responded immediately when the news broke in the early hours of this morning. They are already supporting affected customers and will continue to do so 24/7, behind the scenes.

This situation is a perfect example of why booking with a trusted travel agent like myself is invaluable. Instead of spending hours on hold with airlines trying to rebook your flights, my clients benefit from dedicated support—no queues, no stress, just expert help when you need it most.
