The annual Ashford-in-the-Water Well Dressing Festival starts on Saturday 25th May and lasts until 2nd June. There is still some availability at Holidays, so why not book now and enjoy the village festival.

We have a late availability in Derwent Cottage, sleeping 4 for this coming week, starting on 26th April. As this is last minute a 20% discount is offered. Spring is in the air and the lambs are running round the fields. Short breaks are available starting on either Fridays or Mondays.

Last night we went to the opening of The Ashford Arms The pub has stood empty for a long time and after months of renovation has re-opened and it is stunning. Great interiors, helpful staff and we ate tasty canapes. Only a mile away from Churchdale it will be a great additional attraction for all our guests - it is open for breakfast, coffee, lunch, snacks, drinks and dinner. Well done to Rob.

Just had morning walk through the fields to Ashford and then went to Rafters at The Riverside Hotel for a delicious brunch. Their brunch menu is new for 2024 and this is a new local experience which we hope our guests to enjoy.

November is a super month to visit Churchdale. Chatsworth Christmas begins on 4th November, the House is transformed into the Palace of Advent and the Christmas Market is in the grounds with 100 stalls. Also, within 5 miles is Haddon Hall and their Mercatum Christmas Markets start on 16th November and runs for 4 weekends. In addition on the 18th and 19th November it is the Bakewell Christmas Weekend, with stalls, bands and entertainment.

Autumn is a great time to visit the Peak District. Walk on the trails and enjoy all the golden autumn colours or relax in the evening in front of a log burning stove. New for 2023 is the Peak District Sightseer Bus .com. Our guests have really enjoyed this open air bus. It travels a circular bus route and you can hop off at interesting places like Chatsworth and Bakewell. A 20 minute walk from Churchdale to Hassop Station and then you can hop on and enjoy a lovely day touring round the Peak District.
