A month on and I made another evening walk to Hard Rake to see if any orchids had appeared. Although there were a few scattered here and there, it's not the usual carpet of thousands that are usually seen across these unimproved meadows at this time of year. This will be due to the prolonged dry and sunny weeks during May! It was getting late with few birds around, but there was curlew calling from somewhere in the distance and I did get quite a good view of this brown hare. There were also lots of flowers on and around the dewpond.
I'm not a plant expert by any means and usually use Google Lens for identification, which is not always reliable, so let me know if you think any of the names are wrong!
