I absolutely love Coire Gabhail in Glencoe. I’m up there quite a lot working with groups. It’s a tragedy to see this, and so many other places, being affected by people. They are destroying the very things that draw them there - the beauty, wilderness and nature.

It’s really important with all the other pressures around that those of us visiting wild spaces do so responsibly and help keep them in great condition.

Fantastic week on Arran working for Hidden Hebrides. Great walks, plenty of laughs, stunning views, great food and lots of weather. Arran is gorgeous - hate to say it but it really is Scotland in miniature!

Back on the Ben today. Surprisingly good conditions held the rain off until an hour before finish! 8 hours up and down and a top effort from the group. Working for the brilliant Abacus Mountain Guides. Thanks for the work!

Another successful week working with Rob O Hara for Country Walkers. Lovely group but the weather plans were out this time. I can’t remember a worse summer but we still got out on our hikes everyday. Great food and few drams too (not the bottle of MacAllan at £24k though 😮).

Another fantastic week working for Country Walkers. Superbly organised as always, including the weather!

The guests loved it, I think Glencoe was tops for walks and the whisky distillery was the favourite attraction!

Wonderful week working with a group of young people from https://reach4reality.org.uk through Glencoe Outdoor Centre. The weather played ball so we had a full programme of hiking, biking, canoeing, canyoning and orienteering to help them explore and push their limits. Inspirational!

Brilliant effort from the Muuk-Adventures.com team on Ben Nevis tonight. Sadly conditions meant 2 descended early however 3 made it to the top quick style. 5hrs overall means they’ve got a great chance of completing their 3 peaks challenge. I recommend navigation courses to anyone heading out in the hills. Phone apps/Sat nav’s/watches will get you so far but always best to use have extra back up. These McOfS courses are really well priced too, a great investment.

Another great day on Ben Nevis working for Maximum Adventure. Myself and had a group of 12. Timings and conditions meant a split in the group with Angus heading to the top and me heading round to the CIC Hut with 2 of our guests from New Jersey. Everyone had a great day on the hill with a bit of energy left to get us down safely. See you next week!

Proper Scottish summer hill day today. Loads of weather and windchill down to zero on top. At least it kept the midgies down! Great effort from the group, we got round Stob Coire Odhair and subsidiary top in quick time. Hope you all enjoy your food and drams tonight! Thanks to Mark Warner and for the work.

Fantastic day out with Paul, his mate (also Paul) and young Kenny that I work with elsewhere. Helping Paul raise money for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. We weren’t far off needing them when Kenny went past at great speed on an extremely greasy slab. A grassy step collapsed beneath him landing him straight on his backside. Luckily got away with a few bruises and some torn trousers.

Great to be out with Paul helping him get some miles in for his charity challenge. 350 miles in June to raise money for Glencoe mountain Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. Fantastic effort and a great day all round.

Glencoe MRT says it needs more room for its vehicles and also volunteers during major call-outs.

Fantastic few days in the Peak District working on a mountain marathon for Adventure Cafe. Excellent organisation as usual, a great team and amazing participants from Marker Study Insurance. They raised £45000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, a cause close to many people’s hearts (including me). I was sweeping at the back so pics are limited!

Really tough conditions higher up on Ben Nevis at the moment. It’s full on winter with the path covered above corner 6. If you are heading up make sure you are well equipped and know how to navigate in potentially poor visibility. Saw a few scary sights last week, and helped quite a few people regain the path.

Delighted to be out with this group on Friday night. Terrible conditions at the summit, navigating off in close to zero visibility. It went from a fun trip to horrible in about 15 minutes! With a well prepared group and efficient nav we got off and down the hill in a brilliant time. And what an effort from them completing the other two!

That’s a wrap on an epic week in Orkney!

Plenty of sunshine, atmospheric sights, wildlife everywhere, fantastic food, amazing views and ferries galore. All with a lovely group who threw themselves into it. Just a shame they had to put up with me all week 😆

Fantastic week in Arran checking out a trip for later this year. Wonderful mountains, lovely sea scapes, stunning ancient monuments, epic views and tremendous ice cream. Can’t wait to get back! Hidden Hebrides.
