The rugged cliffs and ruins of Dunluce Castle loom ominously against the Northern Ireland shoreline, a haunting reminder of the wild beauty and dramatic history that shaped this land. 🌫️🏰 But even in its starkness, there's a breathtaking allure that captivates the imagination—no wonder it was chosen as a filming location for Game of Thrones! 🌟✨

Waterfoot Beach will be the start of your WOW for beaches heading on up the Antrim Coast.

Although the Antrim coast is arguably best known for the Giant's Causeway, it's also home to countless beaches that'll (often literally...) blow you away 😮😮

As you travel the route, you'll stumble upon everything from waterfalls and castles to areas of outstanding natural beauty and glorious beaches like this one 😍

‘God made the world round so that we can never see too far down the road.’

~ Isak Dinesen (1885-1962)

There’s a fresh intake of breath around every corner on the Antrim Coast Road, in fact it has been described as one of the world’s most epic scenic drives. It was built by Scottish civil engineer William Bald whose remit was to link the many small communities in the Glens of Antrim with the main towns. To achieve it he had to blast away many tonnes of rock while at the same time sculpting archways into it along the way. The one in the photograph is Blackcave Tunnel, or The Black Arch as it’s know by most locals. The road was a great achievement for its day and made a significant difference to the people of the Glens. Before it was built they would sail across the North Channel to Scotland to trade their goods, because the short sea crossing was easier than travelling by land to the nearest Irish market town! 😮
