The bunting is up at Number Forty Two which can only mean one thing…we welcome the Reaper crew back again for the Scottish Traditional Boats Festival. No better welcome than with a bottle of rum in their welcome basket 🥃. What shall we do with a drunken sailor? 😉

♦️RED ARROWS DISPLAY IN PORTSOY - 6PM, SATURDAY 22ND JUNE 2024♦️

We are delighted to confirm that the world-famous RAF Red Arrows only Scottish public display, will take place at the Glenglassaugh Scottish Traditional Boat Festival on Saturday 22nd June at 6pm.

The Red Arrows will make their first visit to Portsoy, during their very busy diamond anniversary campaign. They will perform a new nine-aircraft show, featuring manoeuvres not seen for a generation.

Visitors are recommended to arrive early, to allow ample time for parking and accessing the festival site.

Deveron FM will be broadcasting LIVE from the festival all weekend, including commentary of the Red Arrows display. Tune in on 105.9 to listen.

⛵️Around 30 traditional boats will drop anchor in Portsoy, alongside a packed programme of live music and dance, Scottish food and drink and age-old crafts.

🚗 PARKING is located on the west side of Portsoy and will be clearly signposted from both sides of the town. Parking is £5 per car, which includes the use of the shuttle bus service; this can be paid with cash or card. The car park is around 10-15 walk from the festival site.

Free disabled parking is available from the main festival car park which will be signposted. A dedicated shuttle bus will be in service.

📍Arriving from the East: Follow the A98 through Portsoy, car park entrance is located on the left 50 yards after the national speed sign.

📍Arriving from the West: The car park entrance is located on the left after the speed limit sign. Follow the road and turn into the car park on the right, just after the corner.

🎟️ TICKETS: Are discounted when purchased in advance online, and are still available on the festival website www.stbfportsoy.org.

Tickets can be redeemed and purchased from the festival ticket office, located in the Co-op car park located on Seafield Street, or from the pay booths/ticket gates.

We would recommend redeeming tickets at the ticket office, where they will issue you with a wristband for entry. Please have email confirmation ready, eitther on your phone or as a print out. Tickets can also be purchase on the day.

Our most recent guests left me a lovely bunch of flowers on their departure 🥰. Thank you very much. Tulips are definitely my favourite flower 💐.

We have been super busy at Number Forty Two this year, and apart from a few days available in September, we are booked out until at least the middle of October 😅. Here’s hoping this lovely weather continues right through til then ☀️

🚜 Christmas Tractor Run 🚜 This is the first year that they’ve done a xmas tractor run through Portsoy and surrounding towns. We actually thought we had just missed it in Portsoy (turns out we hadn’t) so we jumped in the truck and ran over to Sandend to catch it there 😆. Boys absolutely loved it and I really hope that they carry this on next Christmas 🎄.

It was such a beautiful calm evening last night. Sat and watched the dolphins enjoying the calm seas from Number Forty Twos’ garden. We’ve had quite the flurry of bookings since our Airbnb went live 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t be more grateful. Lots of families bringing their parents back to the town they grew up in or around, families making a repeat visit to Portsoy because they love the area so much and families visiting the area for the first time. We even have a lady coming to stay who actually grew up in our own house on the same street 😊.
