📣 UPDATE 📣
Its been an incredibly busy winter season and it’s shaping up to be the busiest and most exciting year yet.
One big change is we are bringing together Wilderness Outdoor Education and its sister company The Dales Adventure Co under one new brand. The Wilderness Company.
This will make it easier for people wanting to book and find info on our programmes, but as we continue to grow and evolve it’s only right that are brand grows too. We’ll be launching the new website soon and the social feeds will be updated too.

There’s so much more exciting things to come which we’ll share soon!

An all day river trip through the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside, and suitable for complete beginners!

After a constant flow of requests we have created some ’open’ river trips dates on our website. These trips can be booked as individuals, couples, families or more, where usually they are reserved for group bookings.

📽💦 Exciting times the other week as the BBC asked us to take Robson Green and Sara Davies on a Canyonning Adventure.. we had a blast! But best of all Sara worked out that she’d been to the very same place while at school and hadn’t managed the jump….No such issues this time, smashed it! Two lovely people to spend the afternoon with, Robson’s new series airs in early 2023, so we’ll be linking closer to the time.

BIG NEWS ⚡️⚡️🚴🚴‍♀️

From Easter we will be offering cycle hire! Our state of the art Electric Bikes from Westhill Bikes offer go (almost) anywhere capabilility without the 🥵!
You will be able to collect from our HQ in Barnard Castle and our watersports base at Grassholme, not only that we are offering a drop off and collection service around the Dale! 🚚

We will be updating the website soon with dates and prices!

💦💦 Whooshh!

Another cracking canyoning session this morning!

We are starting to wind down now, our sister company Wilderness Outdoor Education is fully booked this autumn/winter and so our attention will be shifting that way until next Spring.

We will still be running sessions, but mostly group bookings. So if you are able to get a grip together drop us a message.

Chicken Rescue! 🐔💦

We’ve had a busy weekend of activities, SUP galore at Grassholme and yesterday we had a lovely group of ladies kayaking from Ripon to Boroughbridge, the weather was sublime! ☀️☀️
However there was a little drama as a chicken leaped into the river in front of us and then flapped/swam into some undergrowth.. the suicidal chicken then got trapped at the back of the worlds thickest bramble bush!!!
However after wading into the bush we managed to rescue it suffering a few scrapes and scratches!

So if you hear of any trapped river chickens give our new “Chicken Water Rescue Team” a call!

💦🔥🍝 Ultimate Adventure Experience

Today we had Lucy and Alastair with us for an adventure to remember, the wind made kayaking impossible so popped over to the Tees for some white water swimming and cliff jumping. We then dried off and cooked a delicious pasta lunch over the fire!!

For those trying to get in touch, we are a little slow at the minute! The last few months have been unbelievable for both The Dales Adventure Co and Wilderness Outdoor Education we’ve been working every day since Easter and we are all a little drained! 😰😰 (plus we get about 40 enquiries every day!)
But we are catching up so bare with us!

“Amazing day canyoning with Rob, he was enthusiastic and very passionate about the area and it’s beauty. We walked through a gorge, sliding down waterfalls and finishing off with a jump into a deep pool. Friendly instructor who made us feel at ease and made the experience so much fun. I’m sure we will be booking one of the other activities with this company soon!”
