Heard the first cuckoo today. The cuckoo is on the red list and has suffered a global decline so its always good to hear one in our valley.

A dove-sized bird with blue grey upper parts, head & chest with dark barred white under parts, not unlike kestrels or sparrowhawks in appearance. Read more

'Thank you so much for an amazing weekend, the cottages were incredible and the games/pool room were fantastic fun. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st and cousin's 18th. It was perfect for everyone, all ages were catered for! You guys are so patient and accommodating, we will certainly be back very soon! If I could rate it out of 10….. I’d give it 20!! We heard our first curlew of the year yesterday. It's great to hear these red-listed ground-nesting birds return to the moor to breed after spending the winter at the seaside. They will soon be joined by lapwings and larks filling the air with birdsong.

The curlew is the largest European wading bird, recognisable on winter estuaries or summer moors with its long down-curved bill, brown upperparts and long legs

This looks like a really useful service opening up our beautiful countryside to people with accessibility issues.

We're really pleased to share that our new network of Tramper outdoor mobility scooters is now available to book. We have worked with partners and now have a scooter in each of five sites across the and . These new routes are opening up access to the countryside - come and explore with us at Visit Bowlees, or at Killhope, High Force Hotel and Waterfall, Talkin Tarn Country Park, or Derwent Waterside Park

We have a brand new path to our pool house making it much more accessible. The fun bit is all the new plants we can put in the garden around it. Hugo the cat and Violet the duck are big fans!

We now have two e-bikes available to hire. They are great fun to ride, and make cycling in Teesdale feel like Holland!
You can rent them by the hour or the day. Rental includes full insurance, charging, helmets, a lock, and panniers if required. Full instruction is give before you set off, and you can try them up and down our drive to get used to it - if you can ride a bike, you'll be fine on these!
Cost is £10 for the first hour, then £5 per hour, or £45 per day. Contact Chris on 07941017226, or message me on here to book.

A great project to create a community run shop, cafe and heritage centre in Cotherstone. We've reached our initial target, but every pound helps towards making the project a reality. It will be a great venue for visitors to the area, as well as locals.
