Lunch with the family at this lovely little cafe. Normal service has resumed back on solid food!! There is a Countryside centre just opposite with a Beach toy library outside and a little shop in there too. There is a notice board with all the activities in the area. You can volunteer with the Rangers, piant a picture un plein air or even pick up a litter picker to do a beach clean.

This was a quick photo as we drove by Saunton Beach. It is one of those blink and miss it views as you drive along to Croyde. It is actually the entrance to the Saunton Sands Hotel. The views from inside the hotel are amazing too. I will take photos next time I am there.

A walk in the Burrows this morning was lovely. You can park in Samdy Lane car park and walk through. It is quite a way to the sea, but today, we just wanted to explore a bit. There was a notice telling us the cows were in the zone, but we didn't see any. There is a walkway and a bridle path, and at one point, you have the choice of going towards Saunton or Braunton. Brilliant place for taking the hounds. The path is fairly hood going, but when you get into the dunes, it is sandy and uneven. We picked up a coffee from the little cafe and started out. Not that the Burrows do No Mow May, but if they did, lol it would be delightful. There were some lovely flowers growing wild.

Today's excursion involved a paddle and a wander. We watched the jet ski's playing and one of the speed boats joined in. He was upright at one point. We thought he was going to flip it!! There were 3 large golden retrievers with their owners 2 were bouncing in and out of the water playing and the third was in training to cross the channel lol he was out in the deeper water swimming along as his family walked along the beach. Saw my first surfboard with a motor!! And it was quite warm with a lovely breeze.

In order to get to Croyde, you have to pass by Saunton Beach. There are the most amazing views of the beach available as you drive along the road. There is a bit of surf there, and the waves look lovely just breaking as they go.

This is Marine Parade in Instow. There is parking all down one side but just over the wall is the beach!! It is a pretty little place with lots of places to eat. The beach is quite long, so a wander is well worth it. There are lovely views across to Appledore. I saw the ferry this morning between the two places, I was surprised how many people were waiting for it!! A little like Crow Point, there are boats moored on the beach every so often. Out of season, enjoying a Hockings or just for a bit of people watching, there are benches on the Marine Parade pavement. It is a bustling place all year round. Love it 😍.

This is a 360° view from the viewpoint in the Pier Car park in Ilfracombe. You can see Capstone with its path cut into it, as it goes around the gorgeous blue of the sea with Wales just visible in the distance, then there is Hillsborough or the Sleeping Elephant as it is known, coming around to Verity and St Nicolas Chapel then back to Capstone again. You can see a couple of Paddle boarders and at one point, I trip trying to get across the viewpoint for a better view!!

Ilfracombe Harbour at a high Spring Tide
So, this lookout spot has the most impressive views. This morning, Wales was really clear, too. There is a Cove at the end, which surprised me, lol. The beach at the beginning is Hele Bay. There is a pub, cafe, and adventure sports company down there, and it is a favourite for the SUPs and sea kayaker. It is dog friendly, and there are plenty of rockpools for the children. There are seats and benches to the side together with public toilets and a Toy library 😊 The entrance to the South West Coast path is at the end by the toilets. So much to see and do in this tiny slice of Devon heaven.

Post work, pre bank holiday walk on the beach this afternoon, sunny blue sky with big puffy white clouds.
This is Croyde Bay, one of the surfers' favourites. There were loads in the sea just sitting on their boards. Croyde is sandy with dunes and rockpools to explore. Dogs not allowed on the beach from May to end of September.

The best bit of Bideford, in my opinion, is the waterfront, day or night, winter or summer. It always looks beautiful. This little reel is taken at the far end of Bideford on the road that takes you to Torrington. The row of white blossom cherry trees are stunning.

This delightful little beach is Barricane, also known as Shell Beach. The Gulf Stream carries shells from the Caribbean and deposits them here! It also has the most amazing rock pools and is known locally for the best Sri Lankan curries!! Dogs are allowed on the beach on a lead. A must visit whilst you are down here.

Valley of the Rocks is a stunning natural valley, where normally you can see feral goats balancing precariously on the slopes! The valley runs alongside the coast, and the views are breathtaking. There is a cafe and that is about it the rest is all walking and hiking. The car parks are small, and when we went Easter Weekend, the bottom one was full, so we didn't stop this time. Today we headed over to Westward Ho! For a wander and a coffee. The tide was quite a way in and lots of people were wandering on the beach. There were surfers too, mostly just sitting there as the surf was quite flat.
