A gorgeous, misty Autumn 🍂 morning here at The West Wing. Love the way the mist rests in the valley, making the whole landscape feel mystical. So according to research out today from Airbnb, Croyde is the UK’s most searched for holiday destination on their platform. Well we’re about 20 minutes away from Croyde here at .... does that count?!! 😂😂 🌊 The summer is shaping up to be a busy one but we still have availability in September when the beaches are beautifully quiet again and a dawn solo surf 🏄‍♀️ or paddle is the perfect way to start each day ☀️

We’ve been doing a little kitchen renovating during Lockdown 3 over at our sister North Devon property and it’s looking mighty fine 😍 The kitchen units have been painted by 💚 (I’m in love with this colour) with beautiful leather handles by . Old tiles replaced by white tiles (can still hear husband swearing 🤬 and blinding over these 😳😳) Some jazzy new white appliances and voila! Last pic is the before. Might move in there myself 😂😂🤔

A cold, frosty morning in North Devon and a lovely view of The West Wing - which forms part of - a 17th century, Grade 2 listed Devon long house and our family home. Over the centuries, it has fallen into disrepair, had wings added but still retains many lovely historical features. As it’s current keepers, we spend our time renovating the property using traditional materials where we can, to keep it going for the next few hundred years 💪 🏡 💪

We have a dusting of snow ❄️ (well Exmoor does!) This gorgeous shot taken by shows Exmoor National Park at its finest; wild, majestic and generally empty. It’s an amazing place to escape to & explore and we’re very lucky that it’s on our doorstep.

Happy Pinkmas from The West Wing 💖 The hallway is infused with a deep pink glow supplied by the neon sign created by - the giant clay bead chandelier emits a low, warm glow. I’m normally a ‘red and green’ traditional Xmas sort, but loving the pinks and jewel 💎 shades this year 💙 💚 💜

Christmas 🎄 2020 at The West Wing and who can resist a hot pink tissue paper ball deco?!! 😂😂 This pic shows the Xmas tree in full effect - really happy we’ve managed to fit in a 7ft slender tree into the staircase area. The colour scheme is ‘Pink n Peacock’ to flatter the giant pink neon sign we have in the hallway - with generally lots of pink neon touches throughout. Hope our new set of guests like it 🤞 💖 🎄 🎅🏻

The baubles in The West Wing are up! 🎄 We chose a 7ft tall, pencil shaped artificial fir from - which looks incredibly realistic and should last for years. Our colour scheme has kinda been led by the pink light in the main hallway - so we chose jewel / peacock 🦚 shades to dress the tree along with some hot pink honeycomb tissue balls to add some drama. Our first guests have safely arrived post-LD2.... so hoping they like 👍 💖

Flashback to early summer at The West Wing when the garden was in lush full bloom. After months of lockdown, we had opened our doors again to guests in July. So lovely see visitors enjoy our beautiful corner of North Devon. Hoping it’s safe to do that again soon. 🤞 🤞 💚

Happy Monday folks! And so begins another nippy November week. Think I’d rather be snuggled up here in our West Wing master bedroom than getting up when it’s still dark 😳 The calming grey, green and mustard colour scheme of this room is so relaxing. The gold gilt bed was originally from and reupholstered in green velvet from and the walls are finished in by . Floors are painted but they’re covered in loads of textured rugs - sheepskin, goat.... we’ve got them all!!

Here’s a shot of The West Wing from a completely different angle showing you the huge 3 storey chimney that runs up the side of the property. It’s so tall, we need special equipment to reach the chimney stack. The property was built in 1630 and you can really see all the materials used to build and rebuild over time; brick, cobb, stone, slate..... the list goes on! Old houses are always a work in progress but we wouldn’t have it any other way 🏡

On this dark November morning, we couldn’t resist sharing this beautiful pic from - our local RHS Garden who put on an annual lightshow - using hightech illumination they bring to life the plants and trees 🌲 in a truly magical way. We are about a 30 minute drive away when you stay at The West Wing. Hoping to go there soon and see this year’s awesome display 🌲 ❤️ 💖 💙 🌲

Here’s a gorgeous shot by the very talented of our open plan kitchen lounge at The West Wing. Being a 🖤 of dark interiors we wanted deep blue walls but with pops of bright 🧡 to keep the scheme really joyful and welcoming. The dining table is made from a lovely single piece of oak from and we’ve kept its waney edges for a rustic feel against the electric blue metal legs. The kitchen tiles are from and really animate the kitchen along with lots of copper kitchen accessories. It makes us happy just hanging out in this room - hope our guests agree 😉

A close up detail from one of our bespoke prints at The West Wing, listing all the awesome things about North Devon (there is more! 😍) We love a ‘Bus Blinds’ style print, named after the typography used on vintage buses to show their destination. Lots of great makers on can make a bespoke one for you. This sits in our entrance hall which is mainly monochrome to balance the riot of colour we have in the rest of the property!! 🧡 💙 💚 🌈

A little close up of the ceiling in the double height hallway at The West Wing. It took around 3 months of hard labour (and a scaffolding unit!) to remove the damaged flat ceiling and expose these beautiful, original 17th century wooden rafters. A giant clay bead chandelier completes the look, letting light diffuse through its strands to create a really warm glow. The hallway is finished in monochrome shades using and 🖤 🤍 🖤

It’s certainly the season of dramatic sunsets here in North Devon 🌅 This beauty was captured recently by the talented Adam at Hartland - one of the most rugged and beautiful parts of our coastline. It’s about a 40 minute drive from The West Wing but certainly worth the trip 😍

A little fireplace 🔥 close up from our open plan kitchen at The West Wing. Dating back from 1630 this beautiful original brick fireplace now houses a brand new wood burner designed to keep our guests nice and toasty during the winter months. We have an antique copper bed warmer hanging in pride of place - which ‘back in the day’ would be filled with glowing embers from the fire 🔥 and placed between the bedsheets - eeeek! Can you imagine doing that now??? 😳😳 🛌
