North Devon has many great tourist attractions, one of our favourites is The Lynton and Barnstaple steam railway, great for steam lovers, take a return trip taking in the glorious views or just pop in for lunch in their tea room. Something we do quite often. It's just a 15 minutes drive from us. Dog friendly too. Charlie patiently waiting to get on.

A lovely sunny day today. Enjoy the view. Hopefully we'll get a few more of these before spring. Sorry folks we'll not be open for camping this year lots to do still, start on the actual lodge May. Other pic is the mess we created last year getting the services in.

Big thank you to all those who visited us this year. We always love sharing our little bit of Exmoor with our regular campers and those staying here for their first time.
Nature has been very kind to us this year, our wild flower meadow put on a good display and we had many visiting animals, some you do not always get to see, but they are about. We have added some of our favorite photos from this year.
A few images: The super moon, The dark skies, The local hedgehogs, The barn owl, The visiting deer, birds of prey, our ancient Devon banks with trees growing among them, our wild flower meadow and a couple of top places to visit. I have also included the view you get when travelling to us and just 500m away (never get tired of the view).

We are now closed for 2022 season for a little rest. 2023 bookings can be made from the end of December when our calendar should go live.
Thanks again

We have just been informed that our local bus service is being improved. Our nearest bus stop is a 1.2 mile walk and is located at the crossroads at the A399 junction. it's a hail and ride section. Dogs are permitted by discretion of the driver, of course North Devon is very dog friendly so it should not be a problem. You can catch the bus to Lynton n lynmouth, it passes Blackmoor gate and Woodbay station and in the other direction the bus goes to Barnstaple. Here is a screen shot of the service.

If you're wondering where to visit whilst in North Devon, Ilfracombe is a must. Its just a 20 to 30 minute drive from Devon banks campsite. There is the town, the harbour, gardens to see, crazy golf and boat trips. It's very dog friendly with many pubs allowing dogs. Warning watch out for the seagulls if eating fish and chips outside at the harbour. The cheeky birds will swoop the fish right before it goes into your mouth.

Of course it was an **APRIL FOOL**
As many of you know, we at Devon banks Campsite try to be as eco as we can. For the last few years, we have asked you clear up any dog waste with our compostable dog waste bags. This was a big hit, but we understand that this can be a problem when picking up more than one p**p in a bag.

So this year to make clearing up dog waste even simpler in our exercise fields we have purchased a vacuum collector. We’ll ask you to take the vacuum collector round the field with you when you walk your dogs.
When they p**p just start the engine and suck it up, it’s that simple. No having to carry smelly dog waste bags round with you.

Just a warning! make sure you hit the suck switch and not blow switch, could get rather messy!!

Vacuum Features
*Powerful 4 stroke Honda GX25 engine
*Strong, durable structure
*Easy to transport and manoeuvre
*Easy to empty
*Simple to keep clean
*Makes clearing dog waste easier

Pictures shows one of our guests giving it a try. Looks simple enough

27/07/2021

We have learnt over the last few months that some campers have chosen to stay with us as we are a small 5van adult only campsite with Covid19 precautions to keep everyone safe. With this in mind we shall be keeping our Covid precautions in place for the rest of this year. We know that although many are double jabbed, some still have medical conditions that could put them at risk. We provide what we fill is a very safe environment, a place where you can holiday without crowds, a place where you can drive just 5-10 minutes onto Exmoor and you will probably not even see a sole, even during the School holidays.
**So here's what we shall still be doing in 2021 to keep everyone safe**
1) We are allowing no more than two group bookings.
2) Our Swedish compost toilet and urinal will be open for your use. 3) If using our compost toilet for safety you’ll need to use your own toilet paper.
4)Guests will be asked to maintain social distancing on our site, this
is easily maintained here. (at least 11metres between pitches)
5) We shall be spraying high contact area’s.
6)We have gel points available onsite, but we also ask guests to bring some hand gel for their own piece of mind.
7) Leaflets of local places to visit are provided in packs (when finished just recycle them in the paper bin)
8) We are not allowing guests to have visitors for 2021 (this keeps numbers to our site down).

We still have few pitches left for August and September if you wished to book. www.kipscombeholidays.co.uk

Then we have the 2 acre secure field, this can be hired for just you and your dog, in here is lots of fun dog equipment including our latest piece of equipment as shown in the pic 1to3.

I bet you feel cooler just watching these videos! When you stay at Devon Banks campsite in the middle of a heatwave, take a stroll down through the shady ancient woodland to our Babbling Brook. The perfect place for you or your dog to cool down.

When you open your bedroom curtains to see this little fellow in your garden :-D .
A lone Roe deer who wanders the fields locally paid us a visit this morning. He then headed down to towards the Babbling Brook. I wonder if any of our guests spotted him anywhere.

30/05/2021

Apparently this is the best way to tire out a spaniel whilst keeping cool on a hot day here at Devon Banks campsite. Lots of dogs enjoy playing in the Babbling Brook when they come to stay with us :-)

***Dogs love it at Devon Banks Campsite ***
It's like an adventure park for dogs. We only hire 5 pitches at any one time. Hardstanding with grass pitches or grass pitches, this means we can space everybody out. Pitches are 10m deep x 11m wide.
Located in the beautiful North Devon Countryside. We are a dog friendly site exclusively for Adults. Offer: stay 7 night or more and save £2.00 per night. Images show what’s on offer. Located in the beautiful North Devon Countryside just 1 mile from Exmoor. Exmoor views available.

So what did your dog do at the last campsite you stayed at?
✅ Did they play off lead in the fenced 3 acre field?
✅ Did they have a go at the straw bale scurry and jump over some logs?
✅ Did they have an option of an exclusive use secure 2 acre dog field. Just you and your dog?
✅ Did they have a go at some proper agility?
✅ Did they have a paddle in the stream?
✅ Did they walk for miles on Exmoor national park? (just 1.2 miles down our lane (bridle path 500 yards)
✅ Did they play on the all year round dog friendly beach (within 30minutes)
✅ Did they sip some dog bear at the local friendly pub? (within 5minutes)
✅ Did they chill out on your pitch in your fenced garden whilst you read a book and watch the wildlife?
✅ Did they have a ride on the local steam train or vernacular railway at Lynton? (within 30minutes)

If NO! Then they need to visit Devon Banks Campsite at Kipscombe Holidays
It really is all about the dogs at Devon Banks Campsite. Of course don't have a dog then you'll love it here too! What's not to love about Exmoor?
Sorry we have no showers here and cannot accept caravans or motorhomes that are longer than 7.6m

One of the great things about where we live is we are only 35 minutes from lynton and lynmouth. Our favourite place to visit if we fancy a few hours off and a spot of lunch. If you have never visited before then we cannot recommend enough. The whole area is very dog friendly too, dogs allowed in many of the shops and there's a dog shop selling doggy ice cream.

So we have a had little change around with our grass pitches here at Devon Banks. Don't be alarmed if the pitch number of the pitch you have booked has changed, you will still be on the same pitch that you booked.
So Pitch grass 6 is now our large pitch looking east towards Exmoor (1st photo).
Pitch grass 7 is for smaller units and this faces West. Both pitches are wide enough for a car, caravan, awning and dog garden. Pitch7 is ideally suited to campervans and caravans no longer than 6.2m. If you have a small caravan with an end awning then this is fine. (2nd photo) Both pitches have electric. We also have our hardstanding pitches with grass, we try to space you out on these.
We have very limited spaces for left for May and June, a few spaces for July and plenty of spaces currently for August and September. Don't leave it to long to book though.

08/05/2021

Our campsite is located in the most beautiful surroundings with amazing nature all around us. Our newly planted hornbeam hedge is coming along nicely, it is hoped we shall have more birds using this as a place to nest. We now have our barn owl box up in the tree in our 3 acre paddock, you can't miss up. We are not sure if it's being used yet, bit early to tell. Our hedge hog den we are pleased to say now has guests, we allow them to stay for free. You'll see them maybe about of the evening. Because of all our wonderful wildlife we do ask that dogs are on a lead around the campsite and land. We do have 2 off lead dog fields here, a 3 acre communal field (free to use) and our 2 acre exclusive use field (charge applies).
We are also very lucky to have deer that appear in the fields to the west, although the days they appear vary. You'll see the buzzards, sparrow hawk's and occasionally a visiting Kestrel. We know there are barn owls about and we can certainly hear the tawny owls in our wooded valley and trees beyond. We are so lucky to live where we do with all this nature around us and we hope you enjoy it to when you visit.

01/04/2021

Some people and their dogs find the route down the valley to our stream a bit steep, so over lockdown we have installed a zip line as a faster way to get down there. It is suitable for both dogs and humans to use (one at a time). You will still have to use the steps and the winding path to get back to the top again.

Sadly, we discovered Charlie is a bit scared of heights, so we borrowed one of our friends’ dogs “Eddie” for the photo shoot.

09/03/2021

We often see this herd of deer up on the hillside (you can see this same view from the hard standing pitches), but this time I managed to video them using my new zoom lense attached to my mobile phone.

I will put a photo in the comments of how this scene looks just zooming in on my phone, the difference in magnification is amazing.

So don't forget to bring your binoculars with you if you are coming to stay on our campsite this summer, you never know what you might see.
