Self-catering holiday cottages within a historic Grade II listed hall in the North Lincs village

This afternoon we took a walk down from Papist Hall to Barrow Blow Wells, a nature reserve at the edge of the village. The blow wells are natural springs (underwater the white sand is bubbling away in the centre of the pools) and during this chilly weather the water steams as it comes out of the ground! We followed the spring water to the Humber before taking in a well earned drink at Barrow Haven Inn

We were so fortunate to be able to get our hands on these amazing Bah Humber Christmas cards made by the very talented the humber printmaker 🎄☺️ They make up part of our welcome pack for guests visiting us over the festive period. And the pictures don’t do the shimmering gold and silver justice!

The most wonderful time of the year! 🎄 We had lots of fun creating these lovely wreaths to decorate the front doors of the Hall. It certainly got us in the festive spirit!

Papist Hall is a great base for exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds by bike. Undulating hills, quiet rural roads and stunning views are waiting to be explored. We can offer secure storage for cycles and superb accommodation for their riders!

Our wheelbarrow won the People’s Choice prize at this year’s Barrow Barrows! 🏆 We are thrilled considering the high standard and incredible variety of wheelbarrows on display this year.

Many thanks to Better Barrow for organising such a fantastic weekend. It has been brilliant seeing the village full of people enjoying the gardens and barrows, live music, good food and local displays. And the sun even made a very welcome appearance today! 🌞

We are thrilled to be taking part in the annual Barrow Barrow’s weekend. A highlight of the village year with lots of decorated wheelbarrows, open gardens and activities for all the family.

The theme this year was something beginning with D as the D-day commemorations are just around the corner. And you can’t get any more D than Dolly!

We are looking forward to seeing our beautiful village in bloom - we just need some sun now! 🌞

Super turn out at the Humberside Tractor Run which some of our guests were able to attend. All in aid of the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network charity, great effort all involved! Couldn’t get a video of the baby shark horn sounding to save my life 😂

It’s been absolutely gorgeous sitting in the garden this weekend with sun shining! ☀️ More of this please! 😎👏

One bedroom that always gets us dreaming of gardens is this botanical bedroom in Abbots Retreat. This small room with its sloped roof was part of a later addition to the hall and the window overlooking the passage means that it doesn’t get a lot of natural light. It was therefore a bit of a challenge to inject some brightness into the room and we took a plunge with this leafy wallpaper.

The pictures were thrifted from a flea market and have been taken from an old illustrated bird book 🦜

Not sure how many displays Papist Hall
has witnessed of the northern lights in its 350+ years but this must surely be amongst the most spectacular!

May is National Walking Month! We’re incredibly lucky in Barton to have so much beautiful scenery on our doorstep to enjoy while we walk, whether you fancy a stroll through town to look at the fascinating heritage sites (not forgetting a pitstop for coffee and cake!) or you fancy a more rural walk along the river, there’s something for everyone. 🥾🥾🌳
