Hi all.
I have tried to be ahead of everyone else when it comes to safety in vehicles. Most of you are buying new cars that come with vdu screens in full view of the driver.
In the early 2000 i had two way radios fitted to my fleet of vans. I blanked out the screens. Eyes out the windscreen. After 6 months the radio company replaced them with radios without screens because it was safer.
I would never buy a vehicle with a screen in the front. In fact it is illegal. Yes iit is. I have been trained by the police. Even if you have hands free you can be fined. So why are you able to muck about with screens in the dashboard?????
Now the safety and manufacturers of vehicles have found that these screens are putting safety last. Most drivers want to go back to buttons and not screens.
How many of you know that ABS breaks are not law either. Theck the laws out. For as long as the little led light works on your dash board you are ok for MOT. And thats it.
ts nice when these bodies end up agreeing with me.

This is why ii will never buy a vehicle with any of this electronics. They are much safer..

Good afternoon all.
I know i do not post much in this page but i just had to tell you what happened yesterday. I had to do a delivery in London N1 yesterday. it took me past Euston Station and under the underpass. I could not believe it! It used to be cut to one lane and a useless cycle lane. Causing major traffic jams and loads of CO2. So imagine my Suprise when they turned it back to a two lane road. Okay at 20 mph, but finally the traffic kept moving and less CO2. Bet the mayor hated doing this

Just to let you know. I am not yet putting my prices up. The van may be old but she is paid and is very economical. But if fuel prices do go up by a lot more. I may have to look at the situation again.

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.

I was walking around in Asda shopping, when I saw a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old..
The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to the cashier and asked: are you sure I don't have enough money?''
The cashier counted his cash once again and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.
Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY.
I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister...''

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly..

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.'

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever...

The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE.

Good morning all. I hope that you have had a great Christmas and have got through storm Bella. I also hope that you are all safe and well?

I see that Scottish Government are looking at future electric vehicles and how it will be cheaper for them to run rather than Fossil fuel. And it will mean less tax going into the government coffers!. I hear that they are looking to change ways of driving..

One thing they are looking at is putting up taxes to cover the tax loss. Because electricity is far cheaper than fuel. No 80% tax for a start. So the government is looking at pay per mile. Okay for private vehicles. But what about vans or lorries??? For every tax they incur, They pass on to their customers. Even if they can see it is cheaper to run this way.

It is a difficult situation that all governments are going to have to look at in the future. But i can n ot see much change for another ten or so years. So, what do you thiink?

Great news for safe drivers! And about time too,...

It will soon be illegal to pick up your phone while driving
Drivers will soon no longer be able to escape punishment for using a hand-held mobile phone at the wheel after the Government revealed plans to close an outdated legal loophole.

Also it is illegal to use hands free kits as well.

Even touching a phone whilst driving and get caught will be bad news for that driver!!!

Hi all.

A while ago and again last month on the radio station. HHCR. I said not to buy online to close to Christmas.

Well what with an increase in parcels and cards, on top of people buying even more things online. Being honest, as a long term same day and overnight courier and company. I have got to say this.

All the overnight companies will do all they can to make sure that Father Christmas and his helpers get your items before the big day. But as the volume is so high it really will not be a good idea to buy anything after today. Their is no extra capacity for more parcels to go through the system.

We do not want to see anyone lose out. And moan simply because moaning at the delivery people who are doing their very best.

All of us want to see you all happy at Christmas. So please be aware that problems do occur. But we all want to wish everyone. A Safe, Happy Christmas And A Happy New Year.

Great news.

The A303 is to get its tunnel as it by passes Stone Henge. About dam time. Yes i know their will be some who will not like this. But in the future things will be better for the Stones and fields around it. And it will be better for the drivers who use that stretch of road.

Lets hope the work starts soon.

Hi all.

No matter where you are, roads in the UK are not always dangerous. Most of the time it is the drivers who cause the problems.

Always be prepared for anything. If your on a duel carriageway or a motorway. And you see a vehicle broken down on the hard shoulder. Or the rescue vehicles with its amber lights flashing. Try to slow down and move over. Giving a safe area around the vehicles that are in trouble.

Not only could it save their lives. But yours as well.

For gods sake. Understand and do what the signs tell you to do!!!! Yes a lot of the times the signs are left on. And it is dam annoying! But if you fail to do what the signs say. Like the directional arrow and the red x on motorways. Then you will cause serious injury or even death.

For gods sake keep your eyes on the road. Not on a phone or a screen in the car.

Good evening all.

we all know that it is against the law to use a mobile phone whilst driving. Even the use of hands free can be illegal. Now i have heard that younger drivers are doing video calls whilst driving.

I have never had a visual unit in the front of any of my vehicles. And never will. If i have to make a call or use my phone i find a safe place and stop first.

I have heard that the government with the aid of the emergency services. They may ban the use of mobile and visual units being in the view of a driver. If they do, then, at last. The government would have done what i been calling for, for a very long time.

Safety has to come first. And looking at a screen instead of where you are going is not safe!!! I know the motor companies will do their nuts. But tuff!!!

I hope that anyone caught breaking the law will soon go up by a massive amount and high number of points. It is about time that the law had teeth in this area. And it will save lives as well.

I do not post much in this site because their is not much to say. But i am having a problem. I have been using a great garage to service and maintain my vehicles. Van & Car. Great team and always their to help. The company is called L & M Autos in Basingstoke. They also rented out vehicles. Of which was a good move for people like me who had to get a replacement vehicle on the road asap.
But just been told that they have stopped renting out vehicles. Now this is going to cause problems. For a start it is getting harder and harder to find a company that will rent out a van on very short notice. Not unless you carry certain documents with you. One of which comes from the DVLA, and is not easy to get hold of within 30 mins of needing a vehicle.
I understand why certain documents are needed. But it looks like hiring a vehicle same day may soon be a thing of the past.

Hi all.

You know that their can not be many people driving who know not to go under a gantry with a red x on it. But they still do!!!!!!!!!

Also when approaching zebra crossings or any kind of crossing that has zig zag white lines before it. Why do people drive and over4 and under take on this section of road?????

Drivers will hate me for saying this. But to me, if a vehicle goes under a rex it should have its pic taken and auto fined £10.000 and vehicle taken away. If passing or undertaking on zebra crossings. A real heavy fine.

It looks like their are some drivers who just do not bother about the signs or safety at all. It is them who really should be off the road. Sorry but what else can we do???

Hi all.

Have you got a small amount of rust coming through the paint work of your car or van?

Once you have cleaned the vehicle. Rub around the rust area with Vaseline. No joke it really works. It can even stop the rust. You do have to apply the Vaseline after every wash. and it does attract dirt. But if you catch it early. It can help. And its cheap.

Hi all.

I have been watching many of the dash cam footage that is out their. But almost half of the accidents can be avoided. On many of the videos you see a vehicle approaching to over take the vehicle in front. Whilst not looking for a vehicle in that lane already!!!!

But many times. Instead of the driver slowing up or braking to avoid the crash. They keep on going as if nothing will happen!!!

You must always look out the front window and use your mirrors. Judge what is happening around you. It can save many accidents.

Hi all.

NEW SPEED LIMITS NOW IN ROADWORKS SET BY THE GOVERNMENT COMES INTO EFFECT TODAY. 26TH JULY 2020.

FROM 50 MPH IT HAS BEEN INCREASED TO 60 mph.

After many tests to see if it was still safe. It was. But if you see any other speed limits. please stick to them.

Hi all drivers out there.

You can see that the lock down is lower. More vehicles on the road. But we face the same old things. Dam warning signs left on when there is nothing to warn about!!! They have a moan at us drivers and not being environmental. But how much electricity is used when they leave the dam warning signs on for no reason.

And how many of us get so frustrated at seeing a warning or a speed sign go up. And then see loads in many miles and again. Nothing!!!!!

If your in control of the warning signs. Switch them off when not in use!!!!!

Hi all.

If, like me. you use the motorway networks each day. You will come to notice that they have made. What i say is a dangerous system called Smart Motorways.

But have anyone noticed a couple of things wrong with them? Lets say you break down. The small pull in places are not long enough to let you pull back out into a live lane with ease or safety. But their is another problem. If you break down. The one thing you have to do is free wheel. If you can to a safe place. Easier down hill. But have you noticed that most of the emergency pull ins are on top of hills??? Most are.

Talk about more bad planning. Have a look when your next on the motorway.

What a delight! But just look out for the speeders! And when over taking an artic. Give them a lot of room before pulling in.. They need approx 500 yards to stop. Just remember that!

Just been passed a letter from my biggest customer saying that under the Department of Transport rules. I am classed aas essential courier. I deliver parts for lighting us3ed in hospitals and other places.

Thats good. Got something to show the police if they stop me.
