Here’s George, and his apprentice Blake, from Passco Plumbing and Heating, carrying out essential bathroom maintenance at Sungate, so that guests can enjoy our unique heating and bathing features when they stay.

Hello, we are Tamsin and David and we would like to welcome you to Sungate, our truly autism friendly holiday home in the beautiful city of Bath.

Sungate has been lovingly adapted to meet the needs of autistic children, young people and adults, their families and carers.

Sungate has a range of features and adaptations we couldn’t find anywhere else when we went on holiday with our autistic son in the UK. The accommodation was too cluttered, too noisy or overwhelming for him. Other holiday homes just didn’t cater for our son’s autism, his ADHD, his sensory difficulties. This meant that by the time we got home, we all needed another holiday!!

We decided to speak to other families, autistic children and adults, about their experiences and realised that many others felt the same way we did. They wanted an autism friendly place to stay, but just could not find anything suitable. They wanted holidays in beautiful locations too, but just could not find anywhere to meet their needs. We knew something had to change…and so Sungate was born!

Sungate is truly special, boasting a range of unique autism friendly features. These include:

We love Bath and want our guests to love it too! Whether it’s a short walk to nearby Bath city farm, or a visit to the Roman Baths, winner of an autism friendly award, we have tried to include places you can visit to enjoy an autism friendly holiday in the World Heritage city.

Today is the third Monday of January, commonly known as Blue Monday, because it’s often dark, gloomy and chilly, and everyone is adjusting to the new year ahead.

It’s a time when families often book a holiday or short break away to cheer themselves up. However, what if you’ve tried to do this in the past, but haven’t been able to find accommodation to meet your autistic loved one’s needs?

This is where Sungate can help!

Sungate is designed to meet the needs of autistic children, adults, their parents and carers. It has a range of unique adaptations and sensory equipment, whilst retaining a holiday feel. Today we painted Sungate’s picket fence, getting everything in tip top condition, ready for our 2025 guests, who deserve a holiday, just like everyone else.

So let’s banish those blues, it’s time to book a holiday…hope to see you soon!

We thought it would be good to share our Sungate video tour with you.

Sungate is a 3 bedroom bungalow that sleeps 5, located in the beautiful city of Bath. It has been lovingly adapted to include a range of autism and family friendly features.

Prices for 2025 are:

During school and bank holidays:

£480 for 3 nights (Friday to Monday)
£560 for 4 nights (Monday - Friday)
£998 for 7 nights (Friday - Friday, Monday - Monday)

At other times:
£360 for 3 nights (Friday to Monday)
£398 for 4 nights (Monday to Friday)
£698 for 7 nights

A 20% deposit is payable upon booking with the balance due 6 weeks before your stay. We can also arrange payment plans, and accept Family Fund vouchers. We are dog friendly too 🐾💙

Sungate Sensory Corner 💙

When we created Sungate, we spoke to lots of autistic people, their families and carers, about what they needed for a calming and relaxing holiday.

We listened, and created the Sensory Corner, a regulating space set within the lounge, designed to enable the whole family to sit and relax together, after a busy day out in Bath.

The Sungate Sensory Corner is for both sensory seekers and those who are sensory sensitive. It contains:

• Teardrop swing
• Egg chair
- Trampoline board
• Sensory box full of fidget, light toys and games
• Crawl tunnel and floor mat
• Floor cushion and spin toy
• Beautiful views of Bath from the bay window

Did you know we have a Sungate app?

When you book a stay at Sungate, guests receive a link to an app, downloadable to your phone, with details about Sungate’s unique adaptations and sensory equipment, plus other information our families may find helpful, such as autism friendly places to visit in and around Bath.

The app also includes personal recommendations that have worked for us as a family.

We regularly update the app when guests tell us about places they have visited that have worked well for them too 💙

We arrived early to the Festival as the sun was setting, to avoid the lights being too bright and busy crowds. It worked for us, and all of this information, and more, can be found in our guide!

Beautiful wintry pictures taken at Bath City Farm, just a 5 minute walk from Sungate.

The farm is free entry (donations welcome), with plenty to see and do, including farm animals, spectacular views of Bath, a welcoming cafe offering snacks and meals (we love their breakfasts!) and a fun play area. During the holidays, the farm provides inclusive meet the animals SEN sessions 🐇🐓🐖🦙

So much to do on Sungate’s doorstep! Why not pay the farm a visit during your stay? 😊
