We have been testing the new silicon Evolve weightbelt. You can see it here showing one of the D-ring attachments. They are the first company to create this in a weightbelt. You buy them separately (shown is the smaller size) and then with a hole punch, you can add as many as you like to wherever you like on your weightbelt.

They also have studs along the belt so that you can keep your belt out of the way (so no tucking) without affecting the quick release.

This is Pash's belt. She is an award-winning underwater photographer and videographer and she is going to use this D-ring to attach her camera when on photoshoots.

Emma, Pash, and Bella (the owner of in Sydney)

Pash met her after attending two of the amazing freediving retreats that Bella organises. Bella was back in the UK visiting family, and so I got to meet her for the first time.

We spent three and a half hours chatting freediving and didn't want to stop!

So amazing to hang out with such an incredible freediving woman!

❤️Meet Go Freediving Intructor - Sarah!❤️

"I started scuba diving when I was nine. I went to Eilat and went diving with the dolphins there and decided that was what I was going to do. So, I’ve been diving for the past twenty years all over the world and have been a scuba instructor since 2010. I’m also a school teacher as well, so when I started to freedive, there was a natural progression to go into the instructing side of it.

I used to come to Vobster a lot teaching Scuba diving and I used to look over at the freedivers and think I really like the freedom or not having all of this equipment on me, so I gave it a go and absolutely loved it. I love being able to move under the water rather than being bogged down with equipment.

With teaching freediving, I really like how people think they can’t do it, but actually, after a bit of training, they can. And overcoming that mental obstacle that they think that they can’t, and how that achievement can then translate into their everyday life as well, is just amazing to see."

Tom first discovered freediving when he was at work, on a coffee break and reading about Emma and freediving in BBC Focus magazine and thinking it looked really cool.

Deciding to strike whilst the iron was hot, he immediately rang Emma up and was on a course within two weeks. He loved the first part of the course, but as soon as he got in the water, he had issues with his ears and couldn’t get down at all. But everyone was having so much fun around him, it made him want to do more.

To ‘cut a long and boring story short’, it took Tom years to slowly improve his freediving technique, and then he realised he didn’t need to have perfect equalisation technique, he just needed to stop eating gluten!

However, once he did this, he realised that the limit to his depth was now fear, which was novel as it had been equalisation for the past 8 years!

He then decided to enter freediving competitions because he thought they looked cool, and become a freediving instructor because it meant he could share everything that he had learned on his long freediving journey.

He first entered a pool competition in Bristol and had no expectations of what the competition would be like. He found it a lot of fun, immersing himself in a community, setting personal bests in all three pool freediving disciplines, and coming second overall.

Tom particularly likes dynamic no-fins freediving with the improvements that can be made by improving technique. Ironically, because he enjoys no-fins freediving so much, his no fins pb is a greater distance than his bi-fins pb!

Tom has carried on with competition, including depth events and in 2019 made the UK freediving team.

What Tom loves about teaching, is seeing people overcoming adversity because he’s done it himself over the years. Every person has their own unique set of challenges with freediving and he thinks it’s amazing to help them crack whatever it is they are struggling with.
