Some of you may have received the newsletter with regards the changes to the cottages. Incase you haven't - here's a little update.....

We have sold the Sandmartin and our last guests leave on 3rd November. It's been a great cottage to work with but the time has come to let it go and concentrate on the other properties.

You may have heard that Benthall House was up for sale, but we have come to our senses and we are keeping it😀. We will be making some changes to the house, starting with a new main bathroom, new internal doors and new windows throughout. We are planning to do this at the end of November, beginning of December and we will keep you updated with the works.

We have reopened the bookings for Benthall and next year is starting to fill up now, but we do still have availability for November and December (including Christmas 🎄🎄)

"We immediately felt relaxed and at home in this property. So many different areas that meant a family of 9 with 3 dogs could spread out without being on top of each other but also come together for dinner in the conservatory and games around the log fire (honesty box £5 for logs which we thought was good value) later in the evening. Enclosed garden with wonderful views from every window. Bed linen and towels good quality, all bedrooms en-suite, very efficient heating system, dog bowls and utility room for boots and stuff was great. Minor point but some of the kitchen cupboards would benefit from a sort out - maybe some bigger serving bowls. You can walk to the beach in about 25 mins and the village has a couple of good eating out options - also walkable. Beautiful area and sitting in the cottage window looking over to Dunstanburgh Castle and waves crashing in the distance - perfect."

Puppy has had an exciting day today. Firstly visiting some of our regular guests at Benthall House and exploring the garden and then we visited the wonderful Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery to meet Andrew and the dogs.

Rivas first visit to Shepherds Cottage today

We had the opportunity of being tourists this week at Beadnell as we stayed in one of shepherds retreats huts next to the cottage. It’s was great fun - on the first evening after our walk on the beach, we had drinks The Landing at Beadnell Bay before moving onto Beadnell Towers where we had drinks and cheese and crackers. On Tuesday we paddle boarded and kayaked on the bay to work up an appetite for the compulsory fish and chips from Lewis’s in seahouses. And if that wasn’t enough we ate at Inseime at seahouses on the evening. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. In the way home on Wednesday we called Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery (I’ve been meaning to call for years!). The staff and border collies were fabulous and food was home cooked and amazing. Would highly recommend as one of the most dog friendly places I’ve been. All in all we had a fab time and we love sharing northumberland with all our guests. (Ps I don’t usually take photos of my food but it was worth it this week 😀)

Jack and I had a quick visit to Alnwick Gardens today to see the cherry trees in full bloom. I had heard so much about them and not had the opportunity to visit before now. They are beautiful and are in bloom for approx 2 weeks at the end of April to the beginning of May. Well worth a visit!
