Watching one of our honey bees collecting pollen in her corbiculae/pollen basket, located on her back legs. The corbiculae are made of tightly-woven leg hairs. The color of the pollen in a bee’s baskets varies from flower to flower.

Nature is waking up - it’s wonderful to behold.
The birds are singing, nests are being built and the sycamores are flowering - a sign that the warmth of May is not far away. Once the sycamore flowers we know our bees will be very busy.
We plant both our home and Tros yr Afon’s garden with bee friendly flowers, letting the dandelions and wildflowers grow in the wilder parts of the garden to provide much needed food and habitats for wildlife. A simple thing to do, but it makes all the difference.
Our Secret Garden at Tros yr Afon is a haven for wildlife, with fruit trees and wildlife friendly planting - with a lawn for guests to enjoy and listen to the loudest birdsong, surrounded by Nature despite being in a seaside town. A sneaky snooze is very much on the Agenda.

We up-cycled a pond a friend was getting rid of but we have continued to fill the dog bowl with rain water as they still visit their original water supply.
Luckily our dogs are very understanding (wise) and use their indoor water bowl.

A much warmer breeze meant coats were wrapped round waists mid walk. Always a good start to a busy Easter holiday.
