It’s the second year for our herbaceous garden and it is already bursting with life. Only irises, aliums and foxgloves so far but so much to come over the summer. We think there are more than 30 varieties in there.

This is going to become a favourite quiet corner of the garden. Warm and sheltered, with that gift of a view, and steps up to the rock terrace garden, which is coming along.

Here are some more old photos of Cornelyn staff, from 100 years ago or so. No names or dates, so any information gratefully received. We hope they would have been happy with our restoration work - five years and counting. (Could have done with their help!)
With thanks to for the use of the photos, which are from their Massey family archive.

We’ve been busy down in the far corner of the Cornelyn garden, which was so overgrown it was three months before we even discovered we had a “boathouse” (very rotten, sadly, and long since collapsed). This will be lovely quiet spot to sit and soak in the views next year.

What a difference 13 months makes! Our herbaceous border is in full swing.

As very few of the lovely reviews our guests leave for us ever make it online, we thought we would post the most recent comments:

"A lovely apartment, warm and peaceful. We had everything we needed, and enjoyed the gardens and mountain views. The instructions for our arrival and departure were clear - thank you for the welcome pack."

"It has been a wonderful stay here for this long weekend. The manor is beautiful, really clean and such a nice place to base ourselves. Stunning! Everything was excellent (particularly the bara brith!)"

"Thank you so much - we absolutely adored our stay - the setting, the house (and its story) and the cottage are simply idyllic. We really loved our time here and planning a return. All the extra touches - apple juice, jam and honey - just add to the sense of everything being thought about and cared for. In keeping with the splendid restoration itself."

"Thank you for a wonderful stay and the amazing Anglesey views! Your honey is truly delicious."

"Thank you very much for a lovely stay. Garden Cottage is lovely and the view is stunning. The cottage is well equipped. Thank you for your email with suggestions of activities locally. Newborough beach was fabulous, our boys loved it. If possible, we would love to book the same week next year."

It gives us such pleasure to know that people love Cornelyn as much as we do.

One of the great - and unexpected pleasures - of the last year has been to witness families reuniting in these gardens after many months apart. Watching grandparents chasing grandchildren as they explore our grounds, rekindling these precious relationships, has been ♥️!

After a great deal of digging and planting last year, we have high hopes for our walled gardens in 2021.

Wonderful to see all the new pups at the Puffin Island seal colony. Cruises from Beaumaris are due to restart very soon, we understand.

We reopen these doors tomorrow.
