⭐️Can you design a logo for the Beccles Fenland Charity Trust (BFCT) *?

The BFCT has had a simple logo since 2011 but councillors now want to replace this logo with one that better reflects what the Trust does.
We are inviting members of the public (adults and children – there is no age limit to entries) to submit designs for an alternative logo for the Trust. There will be prizes!!

Any ideas are welcome – there are no rules as to what has to be included, but you might like to think about how you reflect that the trust owns lots of green open spaces for wildlife and recreation, much of which is by the river. 🌿🐾💦

See the below poster for details on how to enter.

* In 1584 Queen Elizabeth I gave Beccles Fen to the people of Beccles. Traditionally these lands, including marshes, Beccles Quay and Beccles Common, were managed by Beccles Town Council. In 2011, these lands were declared as charitable by the Charity Commission and the Beccles Fenland Charity Trust was set up to own and manage these lands. The commission asked Beccles Town Council to act as the sole trustee of the Trust. This means that town councillors continue to take decisions about these lands, but they do so whilst acting as charity trustee, and the council and charity are legally separate organisations.

Beccles Town Council and several others. Have been hard a work behind the scenes organising this fantastic new event for and it's only now just 3 months to go!!!!
So just to update you all, we are already nearly half full on entries, so if you still would like to enter you still can, and have 3 months to get building. Contact Helen ([email protected]) where you will be sent a code to enter over at Beccles Public hall and then be able to register your team and the rules and regs are all on there 👍
This is don't forget our first ever for us, so there will be things we can change in the future. Like this year is all about we will have a ramp at the top of Station Road where team members will push the down, then there will be a chicane followed by a jump. We are hoping everyone will get at least 2 runs and then at the end of the racing, prizes will be given to the winners on stage at the Public hall.
Now we still have a lot of things still to organise and do, so if you wish to help us then please get intouch with either myself or the contact Helen on the email above. Also we will be looking for sponsors too, as we would love to make this event an annual event but as you all know, nothing is cheap to organise these days.
Sorry for this post being a long one and no doubt I've forgotten something 🤦‍♂️
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and will update again as soon as we can 😎

The Great Garden Rail Trail with St Elizabeth Hospice is less than two months away, on Tuesday 9 July.

See the lovely station gardens and floral displays along the East Suffolk Line tended to by volunteers.

Meet at 10am at Greater Anglia with a train journey to which includes a short talk with the folks from Suffolk Wildlife Trust.

Your ticket includes a donation to St. Elizabeth Hospice and enables you to travel further up the line to Oulton Broad South and to see more station flowers and gardens. Your ticket allows you to hop on and off to take in the lovely places the line passes through.

This ticket is also valid from/to via Ipswich (Felixstowe services). If starting from Westerfield use the special ticket to board the 9.46 train to Ipswich.

CALLING ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES!
If you’d like to be involved in Beccles first Soapbox derby, please get in touch with Beccles Town Council on [email protected]

Some of you may have read in the Beccles town council charter recently that we are considering doing a

Settle in, let us explain, so (myself) Beccles Town Council, Public hall and several others have been thinking about doing a new and fun event for our and have come up with, Beccles Soap Box Derby.
If you haven't seen the famous one in London or on the telly, basically teams will build a free wheeling cart/soapbox being pushed down a hill by 2 members of the team at the top, and the driver will go down the course to the finish line.
Now after a bit of research (Station Road) has come out top, with access to carparks nearby and being close to the town centre. The Public Hall has offered to be open for teams to be presented prizes and to be ready at the start line.

Now this is gonna be a "soft launch" event to see if we could make it a success and become a regular event. So we would love to know your thoughts, is this going to be a good thing for the town? Become a yearly event? Help local businesses in the area and in town.

We are thinking this year for local businesses to only take part to give them the opportunity to be able to let us locals know who and where they are. They would also be able to help sponsor the event and advertise their business on their very own "soapbox".

The event would take place end of September 29th (will confirm this at a press launch soon)

So if you are a local business and would be interested in taking part, please let us know or you can email Beccles Town Council.

Dan
