Singing and Dementia
Vocal Vitality offer training for staff in Residental and Nursing Homes for the elderly. The training teaches activity leaders how to facilitate regular music and singing activities in the care home. We also have various themed songbooks available to purchase from our website.

I always feel a mixture of joy and sadness when i hear from new students the reasons they DON'T sing, or haven't sung for years. Maybe a teacher has told them they can't be in the choir, or a family member or friend says "you're out of tune?"
Its time to challenge these messages you've held onto for years. I truly believe everyone can sing and everyone can learn to sing in tune! Contact me for details

Recently I had wonderful new student who had always wanted singing lessons. She had been told by various people that she could not sing, teachers at school and family members. Now as an early retiree she decided she was going to brave enough to start lessons.

Of course she was very nervous about her first lesson and singing in front of someone.
However once she started singing and I reassured her that she WAS singing IN TUNE, she began to feel more comfortable.
She was also very emotional as for the first time someone was ENCOURAGING her to SING.
I am in the very privileged position of helping people to realise that they CAN SING and helping them realise that they have PERMISSION to sing.

I truly believe that everyone CAN sing and should be given the opportunity to do it.
