I do this for both business and leisure travellers. Originally from London - lived in Clapham Common in the '60s. Moved to Rayleigh in Essex, then to Sandy, followed by Gamlingay. Went to Nottingham Trent University (when it was better known as Trent Poly). Worked in the photography business and eventually fell into the travel business. Now live in Oakley, Bedfordshire. I've had the good fortune t

o visit much of Europe (working for a tour operator), and some of the Caribbean islands - taking photos for a Tour Operator. Also Florida, California, Vancouver and Vancouver Island, Egypt, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Bangkok, Phuket, Taiwan, Bali, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur. Lived in Hong Kong from 1997 to 1998. But would really like to explore Cambodia and Vietnam. In my 20's, spent 4 months backpacking around India. And also in my 20's, spent about 4 months in a Kibbutz in Israel. Both of which I really enjoyed. Married with two grown-up children. One's at Portsmouth University, reading Criminology and Criminal Justice, the other at home for now - she read Archeological Science at Reading. Hobbies - really enjoy scuba diving. Haven't really picked up a camera much - perhaps I should. I love to travel. And for me, exploring any new destination is what really excites me - and especially introducing others to that destination. Travel in my view, not only expands horizons and opens your mind to new ways of thinking and the appreciation of different cultures, but also brings home how beautiful and precious this world is. I had the good fortune to go to Japan on a business trip - a fair while back now. I flew into Tokyo, saw Fukuoka, Osaka and Nagasaki.

And as a destination it has become increasingly popular. James May's exploration of Japan (from the ski slopes and hot springs of Hokkaido to Kyushu, known for it's hot springs too), is certainly one factor for it's increased popularity. The BBC's 'Race Across the World' series in 2024 - where contestants started in Sapporo, also brought Japan to the fore.

But add to that, the trend is increasingly to explore the world more - do more than just sit on a beach in the 'Med'.

You might want to get your skates on. Why? In January alone 50% of all capacity is sold - especially for the traditional summer break.

The industry works on "demand pricing"; that is, as airlines seats and hotel rooms sell, so the price goes up. I've seen airline seats go up over £500 in less that a week! And whilst there are various 'early booking' offers out over January, once they're gone; they're gone.

There are very, very few last minute 'deals' - so unless you want to pay more for your summer break than you need to - I would get moving.

Why booking travel direct, can cost you more than you bargained for...

"Booking.com customers are being warned they could be sent scam emails and messages requesting payments from hotels who have had their accounts taken over by fraudsters.

Action Fraud said that 532 customers lost a total of £370,000 from June 2023 to September 2024 after they were deceived by the criminals into making payments or sending their credit card details".
