When's the best time to visit Thailand?
If you want to lounge on the beaches or by the pool in the south of the country, then between November and early April, is when temperatures range from 29°C to 34°C. This is the cooler dry season. However, the weather varies throughout the country, and in truth, depending on where you go, there's never really a bad time to visit.
In February, a few showers are to be expected on Thailand's east coast toward the start of the month, but the rest of the country remains hot and dry. Even the normally cool early mornings in the north begin to heat up.
In March, fine weather should be expected throughout Thailand, with temperatures rising into the 30°Cs and the colder weather in the north disappearing. This means that you can go anywhere in the country to enjoy sun-kissed beaches.
More excellent weather during April and the visitor numbers continue to rise. Be sure to book your accommodation far in advance to get the best choice of hotels. Travelling over Songkran (Thai New Year) means you can have great fun joining in the celebrations, but it is likely to be busier.
June too, is a good time to visit, allowing you to catch the last of the dry weather and avoid the crowds seen during the European school holidays. Thailand is bathed in sunshine at this time of year, and there are wonderful opportunities to grab a shoulder season bargain.
And while August is regarded as the rainy season, Koh Samui and Hua Hin, are usually dryer than say Phuket, with just a few showers.

When many are asked if they know of the UAE, most immediately say 'Dubai'.
But the United Arab Emirates is made up of a lot more than just BIG, BRASH (and expensive) Dubai.
A quieter, more authentic destination is Ras al Khaimah.
It boasts 65 kilometres of coastline, much of which are mangroves teeming with fish and flamingoes. Paddling through the inner city mangroves is a unique experience, with nature and man-made structures uniting to offer the best of both worlds.
It's also home to the Jais Sky Tour - A complex route of six ziplines that range from just 337 metres to well over 1 km to experience the thrill of ‘flying’ at an average speed of 60kmph. An adrenaline-pumping experience!
Ras Al Khaimah also has an extraordinary pearl fishing history that dates back over seven millennia. Archaeologists have discovered that Ras Al Khaimah’s pearl industry was thriving in the 12th century, known as the early part of the High Middle Ages or the Age of the Cistercians.
It's also home to the Jais Sledder. A sled, on a low-slung track, you’ll reach up to 40 kilometres per hour as you hurtle down the Hajar mountain range swerving through glorious panoramas with views of the spectacular coastline.
This is a particularly family-friendly destination, with many hotels offering half-board and all-inclusive, making it very cost-effective if you have children who seem to always need to eat something.
It's about an hour's drive from Dubai and is the most northern of all the Emirates.
With a superb range of hotels, allowing you to explore four elements of Ras Al Khaimah, the beach, island, city and desert, it's a great winter sun destination for the whole family - but also for couples who want a more authentic holiday.
If you yearn to do more, than sit on a beach getting sunburnt on your next trip, give me a call or drop me an e-mail:
