Blue Badge Access Awards Finalists 2023, SME Beds Business Awards 2023 - Positive Impact Silver Award. HTH offer accommodation that is equipped to meet the needs of people with disabilities and complex mobility issues for whom “wheelchair access” just isn’t enough. We provide holiday homes with, or giving access to, equipment that meets as many of their mobility and complex needs as possible. We

locate them in holiday parks that have greater accessibility, including on to the beaches. All on site shops, entertainment venues, pubs and take away food outlets are fully accessible. They all either have on site, or are located close to, accessible swimming pools with hoisting facilities. Many other accessible holiday providers don't accept dogs, but we accept up to 2 pets for no additional charge! Our caravans are in multiple coastal locations, in different areas of the country keeping traveling times down, but also offering variety and choice. Short breaks starting at £150 or even FREE for a family of up to 7. Claire Welsh is the brains behind the project, bringing over 30 years’ experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, 15 years as an Expert Witness and, more recently, as a Case Manager, where she has witnessed first-hand the struggles that families with extraordinary disability challenges face when they try to book a holiday. Then, husband Steve retired from a career in Electronic Manufacturing to manage the operations of Holistic Thinking Holidays in 2021. We bought our first standard wheelchair accessible holiday home at the end of 2019, at Caister on Sea Holiday Park in Norfolk. They added ramped access and full room coverage ceiling hoist to the master bedroom, along with a profiling bed. In the large wet room, they provided a shower commode chair and there is a mobile hoist for other transfers around the accommodation – as well as transfers into the beach wheelchair that was made available for exclusive use for their visitors. In the past 3 years we have added a further 5 accessible holiday homes on the coast, at Burnham on Sea Holiday Village in Somerset, Golden Palm Resort, Chapel St Leonards in Lincolnshire, Oakfield Caravan Park, Towyn, in North Wales. And New for the 2023 season, at Seal Bay Resort in Selsey, West Sussex and Newquay Holiday Park in Cornwall. By the end of 2022, we had provided more than 175 family holidays, more than 40 of which were offered FREE by working with charities and directly with families with a member who has higher level of care needs. We now have capacity to provide over 250 TRULY accessible holidays every year. Where more specialist equipment is required, we can arrange for the hire from local suppliers, or even purchase the equipment that can then be used by future guests. Holistic Thinking Holidays aim to ensure that their holiday is as stress free as possible, in a comfortable and homely environment, with facilities on hand to keep travel to a minimum on arrival at the resort. Uniquely, we are proud to offer a FULL cancellation refund policy, right up to the day of the holiday, as recognition of the families’ need for confidence when booking an accessible holiday, more than any other, without the inflated insurance cost. We recognise that our guests can often not control when events might prevent them from taking that holiday. In addition, Holistic Thinking Holidays now also offer an accommodation management service for owners of similar UK properties as they press forward with their plans to make UK coastal holidays accessible to all. To view a video tour and photographs of each holiday home and site location, enquire about availability, or if you have accessible accommodation of your own that you feel could meet their model, visit their website or contact us directly for more information. WEMBERLEE, WEMBERLEE!!

The day is almost upon us, as tomorrow we head to Wembley Stadium to celebrate with all the other SME Business Awards 2024 National finalists. HTH are proud to be finalists in the Positive Impact Award and Family Business of the Year categories.

Recognition of our success on a national level has blown us away, but as we look back on another fantastic season, we have many milestones to be thankful for. In just 5 year's since the beginning of the HTH journey we have grown beyond our wildest dreams, thanks to the amazing support from our family and friends who bought into our vision both financially and as our cheerleaders. We couldn't have got this far without their amazing generosity!

Since November 2019 when Wilbur became our first holiday home, we have been able to expand our fleet year on year, to reach todays remarkable offering of 8 HTH owned and 2 sublet caravans, stretching pretty much the length and breadth of England and Wales.

We are hugely grateful to the many guests who continue to share our story, introduce others to the HTH offering and guide us on our quest to improve continuously.

A few highlights of our story so far:

2024 saw us provide our 1000th family holiday as we continue to set the standards in affordable, accessible and inclusive UK holiday accommodation.

131 free holidays provided.

46% of 2024 bookings from returning customers.

461 different family groups have now experienced a HTH holiday, 122 experiencing this for the first time in 2024!!

Tomorrow evening The Caravan Man, Mrs HTH and our children, will be raising a glass to everyone who has supported us in the past 5 years.

Basil loves to muscle in on a Purple Sock Day piccie and this year even had a bath in preparation! This post goes out as a mark of respect to all those people promoting who managed to get their furry friends to model their Purple Socks! I did try to get Basil to model this years fantastic stripey numbers, but he was far from happy about the prospect, so Mrs HTH stepped in 😀

For International Day of People with Disability, IDPwD aka Purple Sock Day 2024 the theme is:

Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.

IDPwD is a United Nations led day of celebration that has been recognised since 1992 and now takes place on the 3rd December each year.

This years theme recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. It also emphasizes the importance of the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

The theme this year reflects the current international political and policy context, in particular the Pact for the Future and the upcoming 2025 World Summit for Social Development, and the need to create momentum for achieving the 2030 Agenda. The theme seeks to amplify the centrality of the leadership role of persons with disabilities, in all of these efforts - from the global to the local.

Many countries now recognise this by the wearing of Purple Socks
At HTH we like to think that our primary purpose of providing affordable, accessible and inclusive holidays celebrates this every day, but we are very happy to highlight this a little more on this special day... and we do like a jazzy sock!!

You can still get your own purple socks here...
https://bambooclothing.co.uk/purple-sock-day/
with 50% of all proceeds on these socks going towards the Purple Sock Day Fund to support D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse entrepreneurs.

As well as making an important statement and a conversation starter these are remarkably comfy and highly recommended !

We love Facebook, and many of you will have found us for the first time on here, but every now and again we get a little curve ball.

We really wanted to make it nice and easy for you to access all of the video tours in one place and yesterday we discovered that good ol' FB has created a playlist function within it's video section, and seems to have a button to allow us to share it on to our feed, which, if it worked, would be perfect!!

Unfortunately, no one but us is able to access the playlist from said post, not even Mrs HTH 🙁

So whilst we hunt for a better solution, the quickest way to access all the videos is to click on the "More" drop down just below our banner on our page and then click on "videos" as shown in the first picture. A page will then be displayed looking something like the second picture showing the "Our Video Tours " playlist.

You can then access all the work of our fantastic tour guides all in one place. Please let us know if that works 🤞

If you or you know anyone who would like to become stars of our next video tours, we are looking for guides to either record or be recorded touring, Wilbur at Caister on Sea, Eldo at Burnham on Sea, Zelda in Newquay, Rose at Chapel St Leonards and Horton in Bowland Fell.

Please drop us a message if this is you and we'll try to fix up a date.

Our New project

Hi everyone! I would like to introduce our new project, Holistic Thinking Holidays. We have purchased a wheelchair accessible, 2 bedroom static caravan which already has a good size wet room and an extra large master bedroom. We plan to install overhead tracking in the large bedroom and buy a profiling bed. That room will easily accommodate 3. There is also a twin bedroom. We are going to adapt the kitchen so that it is a normal height - most wheelchair accessible vans have low level kitchens assuming the wheelchair user will do all the cooking, The van will have a wrap around veranda with a ramped access. We are also installing double doors out onto the veranda.

We want our mobile home to be accessible for families with a member who has higher level care needs. But our aim is that it will be non clinical and comfortable for all. It is pitched on a Haven holiday park at Caister on Sea, Norfolk, which is well set up for wheelchair users and we are in conversation with them to make it even more accessible. The swimming pool has a has a beach style entry point and a hoist as well.

We want to offer a style of accommodation that is affordable, suits the family and offers more of what is needed for children and adults with special needs for whom "wheelchair access" is just not enough. It's a project and we are just beginning - watch this space! But we really hope some happy memories will be made staying at "Wilbur" the static caravan.
