Our New project
Hi everyone! I would like to introduce our new project, Holistic Thinking Holidays. We have purchased a wheelchair accessible, 2 bedroom static caravan which already has a good size wet room and an extra large master bedroom. We plan to install overhead tracking in the large bedroom and buy a profiling bed. That room will easily accommodate 3. There is also a twin bedroom. We are going to adapt the kitchen so that it is a normal height - most wheelchair accessible vans have low level kitchens assuming the wheelchair user will do all the cooking, The van will have a wrap around veranda with a ramped access. We are also installing double doors out onto the veranda.
We want our mobile home to be accessible for families with a member who has higher level care needs. But our aim is that it will be non clinical and comfortable for all. It is pitched on a Haven holiday park at Caister on Sea, Norfolk, which is well set up for wheelchair users and we are in conversation with them to make it even more accessible. The swimming pool has a has a beach style entry point and a hoist as well.
We want to offer a style of accommodation that is affordable, suits the family and offers more of what is needed for children and adults with special needs for whom "wheelchair access" is just not enough. It's a project and we are just beginning - watch this space! But we really hope some happy memories will be made staying at "Wilbur" the static caravan.
