It’s time for another Hotel visit (aka Holiday) so between Thurs 8th Aug and Tues 20th Aug I’ll be in the Dominican Republic.

I’ll still be available and working, but due to the time difference and travelling time, my Office Hours will be reduced as follows:

Fri 9th Aug – Unavailable
Sat 10th Aug to Tues 20th Aug – 1pm to 6pm (UK time)
Weds 21st Aug – Normal Hours (24/7!)

I’ll be contactable via Whatsapp and will be picking up emails. I will also be picking up messages and making calls from my 01234 865599 Office Number, but my mobile won’t be available for taking calls or picking up messages (have you seen the cost!)

WOW!!

Business Class to the Maldives? Business Class flying on Etihad?

You may think it's very expensive..........however if you don't mind a bit of faffing around, I've got these flights from £1k per person, return!

Yep, there's a catch, it's flying from Dublin and it's selected dates between September and November this year.

Economy seats are roughly that sort of price from London Airports 😲

We posted this image a while ago and in the last couple of hours, a customer had a situation where he was glad of the service!

Customer is the other side of the world, due to fly back on Thursday, however just before 6pm his airline cancelled the flight - their only option was to rebook on their flight 24hrs later the following day. As the customer had booked a Package through a trusted Operator, we were able to contact the customer on WhatApp and offer an alternative flight flying back on Thursday with another airline at no extra cost - an option he was very grateful to accept.

The moral here is that if the customer had booked his flights independently his options would have been either to accept the 24hr delay or fund alternative flights with another airline at his own cost with all the hassle of organising same on his own.

All sorted within an hour via WhatsApp!

Spotlight on Beachcomber Shandrani, Mauritius!

We’ve recently returned from a fabulous 10nt stay at this very spacious hotel. Based very close to the Airport, the Resort is set in 70 acres and has 376 rooms – that’s a lot of space and it never felt busy. The majority of the Resort is based around a large lagoon with 2 different beaches. There is also a beach that sits straight onto the ocean.

The Resort has two main areas: one with reception, pool, buffet restaurant and one beach at the top end of the resort, with a further restaurant (Sirius) and pool at the bottom end of the resort close to the beach that sits straight onto the ocean, but also on one of the lagoon beaches.

The All Inclusive package is very generous, included branded drinks and a la carte restaurants with no restrictions on how many times you use them (subject to availability) plus you can upgrade to their “Plus” All Inclusive for a better range of branded drinks and inclusions.

There are 4 a la carte restaurants as part of the standard All Inclusive: Sirius (Mauritian) Ponte Vecchio (Italian) Teak Elephant (Thai) and Ephemera (Indian) You can also dine at Le Boucanier (Seafood Gourmet) at a supplement, but one visit is included as part of the All Inclusive Plus Plan.

We had a very enjoyable stay, service was impeccable and as there is so much room, it feels smaller than it actually is and there were no morning sunbed wars! Deluxe Rooms are 60m2 and set closer to the quieter Sirius end of the resort, plus all rooms have Sea Views.

Highly recommended and not as expensive as you might think ;-)

Why use a Travel Agent – well there are loads of reasons and it’s not always about price!

When talking to people, many people say things like “I didn’t want to bother you” (please bother us, it’s our job!) and “I thought all the best prices are online” (possibly but not always and we get access to the same prices as online companies)

What you do get from a Travel Agent is expert advice – we have a wealth of experience and ensure we sell the right holiday for you – it’s not in our interest to sell you something that you may not like!

We also accept that we don’t have any divine right to be the cheapest on everything, that’s just the way of the world, but if you don’t ask, you’ll never find out.

We very much promote being there every step of the way, booking with us isn’t the end of it – you can get us on WhatsApp (and other platforms) whenever it suits you – this is more than handy if you are abroad – if you have wifi, there’s no expensive calls to make (and waiting on hold!) and we’ll respond as soon as we can – we’ve responded to calls at 5am in the morning where customers didn’t take their paperwork when asked to produce at Hotel Check In – all sorted in 10 mins!

As the Industry slows down from Peaks, airlines are beginning to add more flights for the busy summer period (they are still trying to get their schedules back to pre covid levels) so more flights means more seats, more free child places and not so much pressure on pricing!

Occasionally things don't go to plan - mother nature has a nasty habit of interfering with travel plans. Yesterday we had customers flying to Mauritius, until Cyclone Freddy put a stop to that and their flight was cancelled.

As our customer has said, "It's only when things go wrong that you can truly measure good service. Thank you very much for your help and reassurance"

As ever in these situations, information is always in short supply, but with our experience we were able to reassure the customers and advise on likely scenarios. Air Mauritius provided Hotel Accommodation plus all meals and this morning it's been confirmed that they are flying out tonight at 10:30 and they can keep their room until 6pm (that's great service from Air Mauritius!)

It's not often we post offers as we're getting them all the time, but when we see a fantastic one that we can wholeheartedly recommend from personal experience, it would be a shame not to share it!

5* Pullman Maldives - stays between the 11/4 and 30/9 attract a 25% discount, complimentary Transfers (domestic flight & speedboat, normally an extra £1k) and a complimentary upgrade from an Ocean Villa to an Ocean Pool Villa.

Prices start from £6,750 in April for 2 people including flights, hotel and transfers on an Ultra All Inclusive basis (trust me it includes nearly everything!) and from £6,250 in August for 7 nights.
Final pricing is dependant on the flight prices for any given date and duration, but won't vary wildly.

So "Peaks" is in full swing and life as a Travel Agent is as busy as it's ever been for the mad booking month that is January!

Something a little different, if you you've seen Season 2 of The White Lotus on Sky Atlantic (if you haven't both seasons are worth a watch) it's set in Sicily and the hotel they used for the Beach Club (not the main hotel for the series!) is available to book with us and it's not as expensive as you would think - a customer who booked it yesterday didn't think so!

Fabulous views of the Sicily Coast with Mount Etna in the background, a stunning infinity pool built into the cliffside and an incredibly secluded beach - what's not to like?

Whilst it is true that there isn't a lot left for August Holidays (and what there is, is very expensive!) it doesn't follow that there aren't deals to be had for late September and October to catch some last minute Winter Sun!

Thinking about holding out for a last minute deal on your Summer Holiday - maybe it's time to think again? Prices are rising due to the cost of oil, energy etc.. plus the impact of the War in Ukraine, putting pressure on Supply and Demand. So much so, that demand is nearly back to 2019 levels, coupled with the current environment, meaning that last minute deals are highly unlikely to be available.

It's probably a good idea if you haven't booked your long awaited Holiday, to think about doing it now, before prices rise - we'd love to help!

This is some analysis from the BBC:

With Covid travel restrictions receding, demand for overseas summer holidays is coming back with a bang.

And for Tui, UK holidaymakers are leading the way back to the beach.

The tour operator says people are spending more on summer trips, for example going for longer and taking more package tours.

The optimism isn't completely un-clouded. Tui - like other travel businesses - will be keeping an eye on how the Ukraine war, inflation and any future travel restrictions affect consumers' behaviour.

Many airports and some airlines had a tricky Easter holiday period. Some simply didn't have enough staff to cope with the sudden surge in demand.

But this is another sign that lots of people still want to go away, and they are getting booking.

In fact, people trying to book summer trips or hotels at the last minute might find their options limited as lots of other people have got there first.
