OPeNN OPeNN is an RCN network who are passionate about raising the profile of nursing for older people We’d love to hear from you!

OPeNN stands for the Older People’s Nursing Network in Northern Ireland, a regional network of the Royal College of Nursing, linking in with the RCN Older People’s Nursing Forum nationally. In 2006, a group of nurses in NI came together with the aim of raising the profile of the care of older people, and hoping to provide a network for nurses and others in this area, which straddles every setting,

whether hospital, community, residential or nursing home. Older people’s nursing is often seen as the poor relation of healthcare, and we aim to change that perception through highlighting some of the great things that are happening in the care of older people, and through encouraging and inspiring people with a vision of what could be achieved in older people’s care in the future. If you are passionate about the care of older people, or you or your team are involved in anything that is making a positive difference to their experience of care, please post a comment, get in touch and get involved.
