Standing prominently at the front of Queen's University is this striking statue.
This war memorial is by the eminent sculpture Sir Thomas Brock, he was also responsible for the statue of Queen Victoria which stands at the entrance of Belfast City Hall.
The war memorial statue is of dying soldier, hand clasped to his chest, still holding his short sword, supported by a tall angel holding aloft a wreath of victory.
It commemorates those members of the University who fell in WW1, with further panels added for WW2 and was erected in 1924.

Every year Citysightseeing Belfast select a local charity to support.
This year we will be supporting a small but essential charity, Rosie's Trust.
Anyone with pets will tell you that they are not just animals, they are family. On a daily basis large numbers of people are having to surrender their pets at a time when they needed them most because they are too weak to care properly for them themselves.
This is where Rosie's Trust steps in. They will work with an increasing number of individuals and organisations (statutory, corporate as well as community and voluntary sector) to ensure they will continue to provide the care and support that is required.
