Poor Eric, my heart goes out to him in his mourning. We found Ernie dead last night. It seems he just died suddenly and unexpectedly. No signs of Avian Influenza thank goodness. Eric is just screeching loudly and sitting where his friend and brother was, refusing to move. It’s very upsetting. He will continue to pine according to Will's Chickens until he has a new goose friend.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and the donkeys thought Spring had arrived as they galloped and bucked their way round the fields. Today is wet, cold and windy and it’s as if Winter has arrived. The donkeys and sheep are tucked up cosy in a nice clean shelter but the Shetland’s are braving it outside. No one except the ducks and geese likes this weather! I knew it would be bad when I woke to a red and orange bedroom. Red sky in the morn, shepherd’s warn!

Happy double digit birthday Rose! 10 years old today! I don’t know the exact dates that Rose and Annie were born but as I got them in the month of February I gave them February birthdays, Annie the 14th which was my grandad’s birthday and today, the 22nd for Rose, my grandma’s birthday. So it was carrots for both but you can tell who’s boss! 😆

Someone asked me the other day about keeping Runner ducks. ‘They don’t need a pond do they’ they said. Oh but they do, firstly to wash themselves properly, secondly, it’s a safe place to go if the fox visits, and thirdly, they love it!
