Nile River Cruise - November 2024🇪🇬🚢☀️

Fleur has recently returned from a seven night Nile River Cruise, which featured sailings from Luxor to Aswan via Edfu and Kom Ombo. This week long itinerary included the ancient wonders of the Valley of the Kings, the High Dam, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Philae Temple. There is plenty of time to relax along the way whilst sailing along the Nile and also discovering ancient temples and archaeological sites everyday. Karen and her husband have just spent 4 nights in the city of Vilnius in Lithuania. You can reach Vilnius within a 2 hour 40 minute flight from London Stansted with Ryan Air. It’s a perfect choice for a Christmas market city break. With its cobbled streets and medieval town there are lots to explore including the cathedral, 3 crosses monument, Gediminas castle or visiting some of the museums on offer. Seville is such a picturesque and exciting city to explore on a short break. With many historical sites to visit such as the Cathedral of Seville, Alcazar Palace, Plaza de Toros la Maestranza or Plaza de Espana we would recommend pre-booking your entry on line before you arrive as entrance is restricted and timed. The Channel Islands are located just off the French, Normandy coast within an hours flight of the UK. Great for short weekend getaways, longer durations or twin centres. The island of Guernsey is located about a 1 hour flight from the South of the UK and lies just off the coast of Normandy, France.

This small gem of an island is just 10km across and is home to 65,000 residents.

St Peters Port is the islands capital with its pretty port, historical sites and many shops, restaurants and bars to choose from and to look around.

There are many hotels to choose from on the island from the more budget conscious traveller to pure luxury, the Premier Holidays brochure contains lots of hotel information to help you choose the right hotel for your stay.

The Old Government house is the only 5* hotel on the island and this was to be our home for the few nights we visited the island.

The hotel has so much history from when the island was invaded by the Germans to how the hotel has evolved though the years to what it now is today.

This 62 roomed hotel sits on the hill of St Peters Port with amazing view of the sea and surrounding islands of both Sark & Herm. The rooms are all individually designed and we were lucky enough to be given the red room with Marilyn Monroe featured on the walls.
The main restaurant at the hotel is located within a conservatory with beautiful views across the gardens down to the pool area. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruit and pastries to A la carte hot breakfast brought to your table. A cocktail master class was held in one of the small intimate bar areas and this was a very fun activity to try! I found the service at the hotel to be of a very high standard with friendly, welcoming staff on hand to assist me. For anyone looking for that extra special few nights away I cannot recommend this hotel enough especially the Governors suite!!.

The islands beaches are just stunning with clear blue/turquoise seas and white sand, perfect for those wanted to combine a city break with a relaxing day at the beach or during winter periods the beaches offer great walking and exploring.

Off the coast of St Peters Port are the islands of Alderney, Sark & Herm making Guernsey a great place to start an island hopping adventure and to explore more areas within the channel islands. I headed to Herm for the day, this island can be walked in approx. 2 hours, offers stunning beaches, amazing wildlife and just one hotel with a campsite and various cottage options within its portfolio meaning its a very quiet, tranquil place to stay for a few nights if you want to get away from it all. There are no roads on Herm so you'll need to pack good walking shoes. The ferry runs to a timetable and takes approx. 40 minutes from Guernsey. Puffins can be viewed on a good day on the ferry journey.

Gemma and her husband visited Norway in August discovering the Norwegian Fjords on board an 8 night cruise from Dover with Fred Olsen Cruises. This is a great way to discover all that Norway has to offer from stunning views and scenery, historical buildings and Norway culture; whilst enjoying exceptional service and delicious food on board a smaller cruise ship. Fred Olsen cruises are able to navigate the small ports within Norway and with easy access to the main towns right there on the ships doorstep. You also have use of all the ships facilities such as their fine dining, fully equipped gym (and classes), relaxing spa areas and many of the comfy lounge areas on board. Dining options are first or second dining, various food options and all with the same waiter and tentative service. It really was an amazing trip!
