Tyne Cot in the snow.
A day for the purists (or slightly mad)!
A rare event - Tyne Cot with only one visitor - yours truly!
Menin gate in the evening sunshine again - can’t believe it’s taken since last August to return!
At last I’m back in Ypres and this is what a COVID Last Post ceremony looks like!
Final visit of the tour at Tyne Cot Cemetery - which was sunny, cold and very quiet.
After a wet few days on the Somme, my first tour of the year is now in a cold but clear Ypres.
With a few hours to burn after a tour of Somme/Ypres I thought it would be good to revisit the Waterloo battlefield - on a beautiful autumnal day!
Preserved trench system in Bois d’Ally near St Mihiel.
Video of the remains of a French communication trench leading from near Verdun to the front lines at Douaumont.
One of the most moving scenes I’ve ever seen on a battlefield - the Ossuary and graveyard at Douaumont- which is just as moving every time I visit Verdun.
Well what a way to finish a tour - the band of the Grenadier Guards - enjoy because it doesn’t often happen!!!
