ABTA unveils eight-step checklist for summer holidaymakers
ABTA has issued a Travel Checklist for Brits to follow in preparation for their summer holiday.

Director of Communications Graeme Buck said: “Following the eight simple steps should make sure that preparing for your holiday this summer is as stress-free as possible.”

ABTA’s Travel Checklist:

1 Read the FCDO travel advice for the destination.

2 Check passport validity and allow time to renew if needed. For travel to any country in the EU (except Ireland), the passport must have been issued less than 10 years before the date of entry and valid for at least three months after the planned day of leaving.

3 Take out comprehensive travel insurance, including for any planned activities and existing medical conditions.

4 Have a valid GHIC, which covers all 27 EU countries, plus Switzerland, Montenegro, the Channel Islands and Australia, or get one from NHS.uk.

5 Check EU rules, such as restrictions on items that can be taken into the EU, documentation required when driving or taking your pet abroad, and potential mobile phone charges.

6 Stick to the current rules for liquids and laptops at airport security.

7 Get travel money sorted, including cash for bus and taxi fares, or tips.

8 Take steps to keep safe, such as following the rules at the pool, looking out for warning flags and signs at the beach and closely supervising children in the water.

Greece is considering a cap on cruise ships visiting some of its most popular islands due to fears of overcrowding.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told news publication Bloomberg that restrictions could be introduced as early as next year.

He said any cap would be applied to Santorini first, followed by Mykonos.

According to Bloomberg, 800 ships carrying 1.3 million passengers dropped anchor at Santorini last year, 17% more than in 2022.

Visitors are taken by tender from the ships to Athinios, or to Fira, from where they must take a cable car up to the town, sometimes leading to long queues in the tiny old port.

In Mykonos, there were 749 cruise ship visits in 2023, said Bloomberg, up 23% year-on-year.

Mr Mitsotakis told Bloomberg that a cap might involve restricting the number of berths on the islands or establishing a bidding process for cruise lines to gain slots. “I think we’ll do it next year,” he said. “Santorini is the most sensitive,” Mr Mitsotakis told Bloomberg. “Mykonos will be second.”

The Greek PM’s comments follow Princess Cruises’ decision to drop Santorini from some of its Sun Princess voyages this summer due to potential ‘congestion’.

A lovely Couple that have just returned from a 2 centre in St Lucia ,they did some amazing excursions & activities.

Here's some of their top tips - thanks for sharing .

Do the Friday night Gros Islet street party
- we went at 7.30, taxi pick up at 10pm - plenty of time for food, drink, dance, music.

Zip lining at Rainforest Adventure really good fun. Found it cheaper to book direct with them.

Catarmaran with snorkeling, food and drink with local lady Nio Rose.

ATV tour good fun.

Swim on Reduit Beach before breakfast - beautiful and quiet.

We took ECD and found we didn't need much.

We had a late lunch at Spinnakers which was lovely and reasonable.

We booked a speed boat transfer on arrival with by sea transfers which was amazing - took just over an hour and drops you 50 m from hotel.

Maldives & Abu Dhabi flying with Etihad. Clients own photos & Comments. Thanks for sending over.

Have to say the room we were allocated in the Maldives was rustic but we didn't worry too much, as apart from showering and sleeping we weren't there much as the resort/hotel had so much to offer. We really took advantage of and benefitted from some much needed R&R .

The 'W' in Abu Dhabi - well what can I say apart from the W must stand for WOW!! The location was spot on, the hotel itself was amazing, we were upgraded to a suite, everything was so
Modern and clean and the staff couldn't do enough for us (which was true in both locations).

Thank you again, we really do appreciate all the hard work you put in for us. We know we are probably not your easiest of clients with our very picky, exacting 'wish list' but this year's getaway was truly excellent.

Hi Guys, I finish work this afternoon, back at work 7th May.

Our Admin team are around to help on 0800 587 9219, they can chase tickets, take a balance, answer a query on a existing booking.

I also have a colleague that is able to log in to your bookings, I will be checking emails daily during this time instead of having them pop up every minute when I am at my desk.

Bear with me; we should have been in St Lucia, but couldn't travel due to my foot surgery so taking a break with some dear friends, closer to home.

Important - TUI - IOS Mobile App Issues
Dear Trade Partner,

We are aware of a technical issue due to customers using the latest IOS version of the TUI Mobile app, customer will see the incorrect times on their boarding passes.

This may result in customers missing their flights as the times are 2 hours past their departure time.

The TUI Mobile team have confirmed a fix is produced but are awaiting confirmation from Apple to deploy.

Once deployed customers will be recommended to update their app version via a notification in the app.

A reminder about passport validity

Are you affected by the 10-year rule?
If your passport was issued between March 2014 and September 2018 you could be affected

If it was issued more than 10 years ago it is invalid for travel to EU countries including Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein and Switzerland, but not Ireland

If you are going to these countries you must have a passport issued less than 10 years before your departure date

If your passport is invalid you can try and book an emergency appointment online at your nearest passport office

Otherwise passports can be renewed online by HM Passport Office or by using a paper application form certain Post Offices.

It can take up to three weeks to renew a passport from the UK, but it can take longer.

As many of you know, there is nothing more I like than a holiday challenge. This one was to see England play cricket at Rajkot, see the Taj Mahal, Delhi & the Red Fort, travel on a train in India & then chill out on a beach in Kerala with a night on a house boat. Selecting the right supplier in the UK meant that we had on the ground assistance to track down a missing suitcase.

The Review...

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had in Indian. Not having visited before we were reliant on the expertise of the agency in India and they didn’t let us down. All of the transfers and excursions went like clockwork and the guides and drivers were fabulous and very informative. The only hitch we had was the delay of one of our bags from one city to another. I genuinely don’t think we would have got this back if not for the help from the guys over there. A few surprises, we were not aware that a lot of the hotels in Kerala were unliscenced but we managed to get a beer with the help from the great staff at the hotels. Loved having the same driver each day at each place as we got to know them a little too. Overall a fabulous experience.

Hello March

I am starting to work again after my surgery but struggle to sit at my office desk, if you call the office phone, there is a voicemail on it that I check at least 3 times a day, my office is upstairs, stairs are a bit of a problem for the next few weeks.

I am working from my laptop in the living room, I have taken numerous balances and chased tickets & worked on enquiries this week, so please keep sending things over.
