One of my personal favourite live-streamed virtual tours tomorrow - at 5pm BST I will be in Oxford for "In The Footsteps of Giants", exploring some of the city's less famous spots and the places where great people did great things.

https://www.heygo.com/tours/oxford-in-the-footsteps-of-giants

On this tour, we leave behind the iconic sights of the city centre to explore more of this ancient university city, on the trail of some of the most famous people to have studied, lived and worked here. Two live streamed virtual tours now added for Sunday 30th May.
I'll be in my home town Nottingham for my Queen of the Midlands tour at 2pm BST - a great introduction to a fascinating and very attractive city.
And very excited to announce my new tour in Birmingham, which will be at 6pm BST. It's called "Death, Burial and Mourning in Victorian Birmingham" and will be a tour of our two 19th Century catacomb cemeteries. It's not a ghost tour, it's all about the social history of how death was viewed and commemorated in Victorian times and the traditions that have survived or been lost. We'll also visit the resting places of some prominent Birmingham citizens along the way. I've really been looking forward to getting this one on the calendar so I hope you will join me!

A week ago I was enjoying the fascinating city of Edinburgh. It's a place that will feature on my Harry Potter Tour in July, including George Heriot's school, J.K. Rowling's inspiration for Hogwarts.

On last month's Ghost Walk, we were accompanied by Guled Eid, who is writing a dissertation about ghost walks and other "dark tourism". Hoping that some of our clients, friends and supporters will be able to take a few minutes to help Guled in his research by completing a short online questionnaire.

If you've been on a ghost walk (ours or somewhere else) or attended a similar event, the link to use is:

If you've not been on a tour yet, the link is:

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Contrasting tours this week. On Saturday I was showing a group of journalists from the UAE around Birmingham - they are writing articles about the city to coincide with a new direct air route between Birmingham and Qatar. Today and tomorrow I'm doing tours of the city centre and suburbs for BBC staff who are relocating here.

Although it sounds like a basement jazz club in the backstreets of New York, Foxy Brown's is actually an excellent coffee shop and cafe in the Cotswolds. It's in the popular village of Broadway, and is highly recommended whether you're looking for a quick drink, lunch or a sweet treat. If you're looking for a quaint tea room in one of the ancient golden-coloured stone cottages of the village High Street, Foxy Brown's is not the place for you - it's part of the modern retail and catering development off the High Street, but in my experience it beats the more "olde worlde" places in Broadway for choice, quality, service and value. There's more to Crich Tramway Museum then just Trams.Although the tram displays are a big part of the day, as is spending an old penny on all day tram ticket and riding up and down the line, there are also other things to do.
