As of April 6th, 2024, UK employees enjoy a reduced National Insurance rate of 8%, down from 10% earlier this year and 12% in 2023 📉

Self-employed individuals also caught a break, with Class 4 NI contributions dropping from 9% to 6%.

🗓 It’s a new tax year in the UK! 🇬🇧

As of April 6th, we’ve kicked off the 2024/25 tax year and now is a great time to consider if you’ve paid the right amount of income tax for the past tax year.

Income Tax for 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024 will be calculated over the coming months, usually between June and October.

Keep an eye on your posts and emails during this period - you may get that satisfying HMRC letter (P800) stating you paid too much and are due a refund!
The letter will also explain how to get your refund or pay any tax you owe.👀

But don’t sit around waiting - you can be proactive! If you think you overpaid income tax last year based on your records, you can kickstart the process by contacting HMRC directly.

Moving to England is a popular choice for a number of reasons; it’s home to London, the nation’s capital that attracts the most funding. It also hosts major urban cities with ample opportunities and booming expat communities.

Why should anyone consider Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

Scotland boasts of a high level of education, relatively low cost of living, a low level of crime compared to the rest of the country and a high employment rate.

Wales is an inexpensive place to live with its low cost of housing. It’s ideal for life away from densely populated cities and offers fresh air, natural green scenery and vast landscapes. The quality of healthcare is especially lauded for being better other regions’.

Similar to Wales, Northern Ireland is a cheaper place to live, in terms of food, rent and utilities and general cost of living. It’s also a great destination if you are looking to live and work in a country with excellent amenities, easy commute and low crime rates.

Compared to England, these other 3 regions also have better NHS services.
