We are in the process of closing off a small area of the pedestrianised section of Newgate Street, in Bishop Auckland, outside Shoe Zone.

This is a temporary measure while structural works are carried out, but it means the shop will not be accessible to customers.

A walkway will be provided so that pedestrians can still access both ends of the street.

While the closure is in place, vehicular access to the Fore Bondgate and Newgate Street pedestrian zone for loading and Blue Badge holders is suspended. Alternative loading and Blue Badge bays remain available in the area, including at Finkle Street.

We apologise for any inconvenience.
