ROAD NOW REOPENED - back to normal route

Due to a police incident the 99 cannot serve Close House and Gurney Valley. Buses are diverting via Old Eldon between Eldon and Coundon (Hillside Road) - there may be delays as a result.

1525 Stanley Crook reopened

1255 - due to an unsafe building and police road closure, service 84 (Crook Town Bus) will terminate at Roddymoor from 1340 until further notice

1210 - Service 96 stuck at Cotherstone due to a fallen tree. The next bus may have to divert and omit Lartington/Cotherstone

1120 - Service 99 stuck at Kirk Merrington due to a fallen tree

1050 - Service 111 can’t reach Willington due to a fallen tree at Stony Bank. It will terminate at Byers Green

0955 - service 101 diverting via Tow Law due to a fallen tree on the A689 at Scotch Isle area

0930 - service 773 will terminate at Blanchland due to reports of fallen trees

At present we are planning to operate a normal service, although services 88, 101 and 108/109 will be diverted via Toronto so as a result there may be slight delays to these buses.

We have been made aware of forged £20 notes circulating in our area.

Our staff have been made aware of this and we have asked them to make additional checks when presented with one.

Please be aware that from today until further notice, buses on service 9 will depart from Newgate Street stand D instead of Saddler Street. The timetable is unchanged and will still depart at 41 minutes past

We have not been able to operate this service in its entirety since Monday due to the road conditions. However we have spoken to various people to ascertain the current conditions and are going to attempt to operate the 1340 departure from Consett today which will only run as far as Blanchland, returning at 1420. If this is successful then the 1600 journey will operate from Consett but again, only as far as Blanchland

We at Weardale are saddened to learn of the loss of our colleague and friend John today.

John had worked in the bus industry for over 30 years, starting in his native Chester and moving to County Durham where he was a familiar sight to thousands of Arriva passengers around Bishop Auckland.

Although his time at Weardale was brief, we were always impressed with his dedication to the job, transporting students to and from school safely.

We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and we will miss him sorely.
