Congratulations to Pleasure Beach for scooping three awards at the UK Theme Park Awards 👏

The accolades included a Gold award in the ‘Best Seaside Park’ category.

It was also presented with two Bronze awards in the ‘Best Theme Park for Thrills’ category, and ‘Best Ride Storytelling’ for Valhalla

ICE FESTIVAL FEBRUARY HALF-TERM

The Fylde Ice Festival will return to St Annes on Saturday 15 Feb 2025.

The event will feature a carving wall, ice carving demo from the award-winning Glacial Art Ice Sculptors, and an ice sculpture trail around the town centre. More details coming soon.

It's the second round of the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool on Saturday 21 September as Finland battle it out in the skies! Approx firing time: 8.30pm.

Due to the popularity of the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool, there may be traffic delays arriving and leaving the event.

If you are parking in the central areas, consider delaying your departure to avoid the initial rush and take time to enjoy some of Blackpool’s night-time attractions and hospitality.

Alternative public transport via the rail systems and buses are also recommended.

GOOD NEWS FROM SEA LIFE BLACKPOOL

You may remember when Nazaré, the loggerhead sea turtle, was discovered washed up on a beach in Barrow-in-Furness back in February.

The turtle was severely cold-stunned, suffering from pneumonia, and covered with a thick build-up of algae and seaweed on her shell.

But thanks to the incredible rehabilitation efforts at SEA LIFE Blackpool and SEA LIFE Scarborough, Nazaré has now returned to her ocean home. Swim free, Nazaré! 💙

We have a really exciting and ambitious programme planned for Lightpool Festival 2024, and we need enthusiastic, committed and friendly people to help us bring it to life.

As a volunteer, you will be an integral part of our team, helping us with stewarding events, handing out brochures, and way-finding. Each shift is four hours and you can do as many shifts as you like over the festival.

In return, we hope to provide an opportunity to meet new people, try new things, gain work and life experience and be part of something special!

NEW ILLUMINATIONS TABLEAU

A new tableau, created by Leigh Francis (aka TV star Keith Lemon), is on display at the Cliffs section in the Illuminations, and we absolutely love it!

Leigh said: “I’m honoured and delighted to be asked to be part of the Blackpool Illuminations.

“As a kid I loved the Blackpool Lights so the design I did features things that lit up my world as a child - space, dinosaurs and the idea of flight.”

FREE EVENT - KITE FESTIVAL

Next weekend marks the return of St. Annes Kite Festival!

The skies above St Anne’s seafront will be awash with colour from the 13 - 15 September as fabulous display kites take to the air on the beach adjacent to the pier.

There is a planned illuminated kite flying evening on Friday 13 September along with a fairground on the beach, a stage for music and entertainment and additional stalls on the Promenade.

The Typhoon has swooped in to close the exciting first day of Blackpool Air Show. This powerful aircraft with its impressive top speed of over 1400mph, powered by two Rolls Royce engines, dominates the skies. Bring the noise!

The first day of Blackpool Air Show is off to a flying start as the world famous Red Arrows display team make their grand entrance over the Blackpool Tower!

Hold on tight! The RAF Typhoon Display Team took a break from soaring through the skies to experience the thrill of ICON at Pleasure Beach 🎢✈️ With twice the launch velocity of a commercial airline, we thought we would put the team to the test and show them a different type of thrill! It’s Twilight Thrills at Pleasure Beach tomorrow, Saturday 10 August, open from 10am to 9pm. Don’t forget, it’s Blackpool Air Show this weekend, too!
