BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS TEAM HELP LIGHT UP LONDON’S LEICESTER SQUARE

The Blackpool Illuminations team produced eight spectacular neon pieces in collaboration with internationally-renowned artist, Chila Kumari Singh Burman MBE to create an illuminated art trail in Leicester Square Gardens.

It was designed to reflect Chila’s Indian heritage and was inspired by London’s diverse communities.

JUBILEE GARDENS SWITCH-ON

From next Thursday, Jubilee Gardens will once again be lit up in dazzling colours to coincide with the Blackpool Illuminations ✨

Head down from 7pm for a Gardens Tour, free tea & coffee, and music! The Switch-On will take place around 7.30pm.

FREE WORKSHOP

Do you want to develop skills in projection mapping?

DigiLab is a free workshop week for anyone who wants to develop skills in projection mapping, from storyboarding through to basic animation and mapping techniques.

Led by Imitating the dog, the workshop week is held at Lightworks, the home of Blackpool Illuminations.

BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS SWITCH-ON CELEBRITY

Get ready to Spice Up Your Life! We’re beyond excited to announce that Mel B will be switching on this year’s Blackpool Illuminations!

From the Spice Girls’ incredible success and her inspiring work with domestic abuse victims, Scary Spice is coming back to where it all began, right here in Blackpool, where she first took the stage at Pleasure Beach Resort as a 16-year-old dancer.

The Switch-On ceremony on Friday 30 August will cap off a fantastic two-hour concert delivered in association with Hits Radio, featuring performances by Ella Henderson, Kimberly Wyatt, and Rockstar Weekend’s Massaoke.

ILLUMINATIONS SWITCH-ON ANNOUNCEMENT

Kimberly Wyatt and Massaoke performed by Rockstar Weekend join the Illuminations Switch-On line up!

We are thrilled to announce that Massaoke, performed by Rockstar Weekend, will open the main show with their unique mass participation touring production with lyrics from some of the greatest crowd-pleasing anthems of all time projected on to giant LED screens.

The aim is to create the biggest audience singalong that Blackpool has ever seen!

They will be followed on stage by Grammy-nominated artist and former member of The Pussycat Dolls, Kimberly Wyatt who will bring her high energy DJ set featuring some of the biggest tracks of the Noughties, dance hits and other pop classics.

The free Switch-On event will take place on the Tower Festival Headland on the evening of Friday 30 August in association with Hits Radio.

The headline act and Switch-On celebrity are still to be announced.

Check out this heartwarming gesture! A local business owner in Blackpool, Steve Hoddy from Bispham and Cleveleys Kitchens Ltd, just donated £2,000 to support the Illuminations 💡

He swung by Lightworks, where the magic happens, to hand over the donation.

Steve, whose business is right in the heart of the action, is encouraging other businesses to join in and support the Illuminations too.

He believes that by coming together, we can ensure that the extended Illuminations season, introduced after COVID, continues to shine bright in the years to come.

BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

We are excited to announce that Blackpool’s annual Illuminations display will once again be extended by two months after another dramatic rise in visitor numbers over the winter months.

The Illuminations season will start on Friday 30 August and run until Sunday 5 January, 2025 ✨

We are currently working on three brilliant new installations and one of our guest designers is Leigh Francis, best known for his charismatic alter-ego Keith Lemon!

We can’t wait to show you what we have up our sleeve
