We were so pleased to welcome Minister for Education, Alison McGovern, to The Cliffs Hotel 😃

The Minister visited thanks to the work our team has been doing across all our hotels with our apprenticeship program and Care Leaver Initiative. As one of the exemplary employers in the hospitality sector, we were proud to show how our work providing meaningful career opportunities has made a positive impact.

During her visit, Ms. McGovern spent time with several of our apprentices, hearing how the program has helped them develop valuable hospitality skills. This was a fantastic reminder of why investing in people is at the heart of everything we do.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this visit successful, especially to our apprentices and care leavers who continue to be wonderful ambassadors for Choice Hotels.

Blackpool and the Lake District are in the top 10 most popular staycation destinations in the country 🎉

The Lake District, England's largest national park, ranked sixth - the highest for a northern location. It scored 26.1, with a total of 414,020 monthly holiday-related Google searches, 9,848 Instagram hashtags, and a TikTok search volume of 220,273.

Known for its breathtaking natural scenery, including magnificent peaks and tranquil lakes, the Lake District is also home to picturesque towns and villages such as Grasmere and Ambleside.

Blackpool secured the ninth spot with an overall score of 20.7. The seaside resort garnered 449,530 Google searches, 8,660 Instagram holiday hashtags, and a TikTok search volume of 168,820.

Blackpool, one of the UK's most beloved seaside resorts, has been a family favourite for generations.

Blackpool has been a hub of dance for over a century 💃🏼🕺🏼

The town is steeped in dance history, from the iconic The Blackpool Tower Ballroom that opened in 1894 to hosting the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival since 1920.

This year, Blackpool will host the Junior Dance Festival from the 21st to the 27th of April, followed by the Blackpool Dance Festival from the 17th to the 30th of May.

Whether for ballroom, Latin, or more modern dance, Blackpool attracts dancers of all ages, types and abilities from around the world.

This morning, Lauren and Beth from the Choice Team presented to 250 Year Nine students at Aspire Academy on a career in hospitality.

This comes ahead of the Blackpool Jobs Fair at the Winter Gardens Blackpool on the 27th of February, which Choice Hotels is delighted to be attending. We’ll be there promoting careers in hospitality and the options for work placements with Choice Hotels.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Linda Nolan, a true icon of British music.

The Nolans hold a special place in Blackpool’s history, and we feel incredibly privileged to have played a small part in their journey. It was at The Cliffs Hotel, that they were scouted, leading to a remarkable career that brought joy to so many.

The blue plaque at The Cliffs is a lasting reminder of their incredible talent, and today, it feels especially poignant.

Our thoughts are with Linda’s loved ones, the Nolan family and all those who were touched by her music.

📍 The Keswick Country House Hotel If you want to visit the lakes and get your walking boots on, The Keswick Country Hotel is close to some of the best walks and hikes in the area. The Catbells is one of our favourites and has some of the most stunning scenery in The Lakes 😍 The full Catbells walking route is approximately 3.5 miles, or 5.7 kilometres. It takes around three hours and is moderate, with a short steep section on ascent with some minor scrambling.
